Where exactly does this game take place?

I have played Battletech games in the past (MechAssault 1 & 2) but don't know the lore that well at all. I was looking at the star map and would just like to know where the game takes place in relation to earth and tau ceti (the inner sphere). If anyone could provide pictures highlighting the area of the galaxy where this game takes place and where earth is that would be even better.

In order to not conflict much with established lore, the designers placed it in a previously-poorly-defined section of the Periphery, outside the southern edge of the Inner Sphere.

The top edge of the in-game map contains the southern borders of the Free Worlds League (House Marik), Capellan Confederation (House Liao), and Federated Suns (House Davion).

The Magistracy of Canopus and the Taurian Concordat (major Periphery states) are on the left & right sides of our map.

Earth (Terra) is the center of the Inner Sphere. So it's long way off the top edge of our map.
