HEY DEVS!!!!!!
With Mechwarrior 5 getting the console treatment it would be LOVELY to see Battletech hit the console scene as well. I'd put another 80 hours into on the PS5. Easily. Some days I PC game. Some days I wanna couch and console game. Would be AWESOME if this would happen. Mech games NEED to be back on console as some point!

Game development is done. You have a very odd definition of need

HEY OP!!!!!

The devs don't read this forum. ;)

(that said, the Shadowrun collection is coming to consoles soon. So maybe other HBS/Paradox games will as well. Possibly depending on how Shadowrun sales go.)

Certainly true. Also, I've seen videos of the game working on the SteamDeck as well.

Well, as someone stated, the Shadowrun collection is coming to consoles (awesome games, btw) and development may be done on Battletech but that doesn't mean it can't or won't come to console at some point.

Last thing I want to do is sit on a couch with a TV dinner tray as a desk and have to use a k/m to play a game. That's the purpose of consoles. It's not hard, just not want I want to do. I'd go so far as to say that anyone that owns a console doesn't want to do that either.

...you could just plug your PC into your TV or even stream to it and remap the buttons on a controller with some software (that probably came with the controller).

Okay now to ask the question, is this type of game something that would work well on console? I think not. Console controllers do not lend themselves to this kind of gameplay. Neither does a couch where you have no space to put a K&M.

I doubt it

Controllers lend themselves more to action type games, where no skill is required since it also has auto lock on target. Might as well be a walking simulator.

I would like to see you show us how Ninja Gaiden Sigma require no skill, or you playing it on Keyboard and mouse. Just because FPS games have aim assist, making categorical statements like that "Controllers lend themselves more to action type games, where no skill is required" is incorrect.

I am not arguing that it requires skill to use a controller with little joysticks and a bunch of buttons. Since I have never owned a newer console, that is not something I am good at.

But what I do see is 'auto aim' with controllers in a lot of games. You name one game as if that is all console games. I am sure there are more difficult console games but I am not talking about the extremes, I am talking about the common.

In common there as many games with high skill requirement as on PC. It just different type of skill, consoles has more action oriented games, meanwhile PC has more strategies. Yet, the line is really blended lately. Still it doesn't make claims like this "Controllers lend themselves more to action type games, where no skill is required since it also has auto lock on target. Might as well be a walking simulator." true. And show more of a common elitism bias.

Don't see why it'd be weirder than, say, CK3 on console, which is already a thing. HBS BT doesn't have a terribly complicated UI and is entirely turn-based.

What? Games on console that use a tactical overlay using a controller: Xcom, Xccom 2, Desperados, Frostpunk, Valkyria Chronicles 1 and 4, Gears Tactics, Halo Wars 1 and 2, Civ5, Skylines, John Wick Hex, etc, etc, etc

So, to answer your question, yes, yes it WOULD WORK on console. Very easily btw. Remapping k/m to a controller overlay is NOT hard work. Also, I can play Battletech on my PC using a controller. Why not vice-versa? Remapping the buttons is easy as pie.
