Question about increasing max contracts per system
So, I have modified the simgameconstants file in the game data and I've set max contracts per system to 20. But I only see a maximum of 8 per system, sometimes even less. Anyone knows why it didnt work?

1. The changes only appear when you travel to another system.
2. There is also a 'refresh' and 'renewal' per week. If you already did contracts for a system, and travel back to the system later, they may not have renewed enough contracts to see the max.
3. You have a mod that does not use the default simgameconstants file.

Hmmm, I traveled a lot so number 1 cant be. Im thinking about number 3, Im using battletech extended mod. Do you know which file I should modify for BEX?

I don't use any big mods that change the game. I prefer a more vanilla and less micromanaging in my game.

I have very limited experience with the json files, but I think you're modding the right value - the standard maximum is 7 contracts, not 8, so your change has some effects. I recall a guy once posted here about changing it to 100 and getting 12-13 contracts per system, so I suspect values above 7 may not translate to a 1:1 increase. Why that might be, I don't know.

It could also be that 'already visited' systems are now controlled by the refresh/renewal numbers.

Have you visited a 'never before visited' star system?

Yes I have. I cranked the max contracts number to 30 and now Im seeing 12 contracts in the recent system i've visited. Ive also checked all the simgameconstant files in the BEX mod and none has max contracts per system so I think the vanilla file is the correct one yes
