Best scout mech?
My candidate is a modified Jenner:
*Remove SRMs
*Add jump jets
*Beef up the armour a bit.
It's fast. a bit more survivable than some other light mechs, and with 4 Medium lasers can do a decent backstab.

Any thoughts?

Make sure you paint boobies on it and some makeup since it was named after Bruce Jenner (fast and agile) in the early 80s.

I think a Rainbow colored paint scheme would work best with a large missile on the front under the torso...

I always played the panther on TT so partial to that but considering the Firestarter also. But hear they have limited ammo so not sure.

Considering a Firestarter build myself, if they use PnP specs I remember the Panther as quite slow?

Fave scout mech of all time has to be the Raven. We won't be seeing yet unfortunatley ...:steamsad:

the best scout mech is an atlas

Jenner or Firestarter, none of the others are really contenders. If at the end we're fighting nothing but assaults, I might use one of the 5/8 mediums in that role. It would be nice to have the Pheonix Hawk, but we'll have to wait and see on that lawsuit.

Having said that, be a little careful with those jump jets, they turned up the heat a lot on them. I don't think you're going to want to jump much farther than 120 m.

Gotta have that locust, stupidly fast, good punch if the 1m is loaded with SRMs, annoyingly hard to hit, though the downside of "If it IS hit theres no amount of praying you can do that pilot is toast"

I was thinking similar. Maybe the griffin as my smallest mech later on in the game.

Not a bad idea :D By end game, a Griffin might be a sensible "Scout" mech.

i think a atlas can be a great scout, just ask the dead locus that tried to scout us.

I will be aiming for a firestarter for sensor locks and then some punching (possible flaming as well but flamers need 2 turns to cook something and they only have 3 shots each)

Firestarter looks to have a firepower advantage, but I prefer the Jenner's speed and it's neat model.
