What does it say on the store page?
Sir Crashalot Apr 23, 2018 @ 12:01pm
Store page says 8gb minimum.

System requirements are not always set in stone. I would give it a try. You may have to really close a lot of background applications.

Worse case return it before 2 hours is up on Steam

Well the min on the store page says 8, rec is 16.... So my guess is no... And also I would say you should upgrade your wooden computer. Most games are going to be 8. I am surprised you have survived with 4 this long bro. I would start thinking about upgrading.

What if my system info says I have 8GB "Installed RAM" and 4.94GB "available RAM"... which one is it.

My laptop has 8 gigs and still runs pretty poorly, but it's playable for a turn-based game.

I think you'll be disappointed in its performance, but I could be wrong.

That should be fine. You never have your full amount of ram available. Imagine what the number would look like if you only had 4gb installed.

They ususally list the physical ram for running on the OS required. So long as you close your web brower and other memory hogs, it should could as the 8 gigs they asked for.

I do plan to upgrade at some point in the near future, just wonderin... cheers for the info anyway..

Yeah but your laptop performance is probably more due to the fact that laptop graphic cards are always under powered.

you can probably get it to run on 4GB of ram. but honestly you should seriously upgrade to dual channel 16GB of ram. windows uses a lot of ram by its self and many games these days expect your gaming matchine to have 8GB of ram minimum.

The problem I see is how strong are the other components of your system.
The times when 4GB ram where standard is so long ago that your cpu and gpu are probably too outdated.

It will run but whatever it will be a smooth or not is an entirely different matter. A minimum of 8GB is the standard for modern gaming in PC these days.

you got 4 gb? win7 were reserving at least 1gb for itself if i'm not wrong, so you are down to 3gb, and let's say on avarage you are loosing another 0,5gb in background tasks, now you are down to 2,5gb ram... to compare it with 8gb base, whoch would be at 6,5gb with the same tasks, now you are down to around 38% of the ram compared to the 8gb.
you are not "only" have half of the ram (4gb out of 8) but you are way below it. i think that's realy low for modern games, even if they are not that taxing. my father's notebook had 4gb with win10, and if he was runing his train-model-builder-programm, it took around 1 minute just to open a browser... after upgrading the ram to 8gb (the max for his system) it was down to around 10 seconds, just so you know what big of a difference upgrading the ram may give you, and i would recommend you to think about an upgrade, but befor you do it: think about maybe replacing the whole system. my old system did cost me 550€ and it survived 4,5 years until i was forced to finaly upgrade it. (and yes, i was never able to play games on max settings, but that wasn't important for me), and if you buy new ram now, it may be possible this ram would be useless in a new pc, so check first what ram you would need and if it would be usable in a future pc

I agree. This laptop has a 940M, so that also needs to be taken into consideration, but even with the details on low, there were issues with loading times and the like. Considering switching from RAM to virtual memory leads to catastrophically poor performance, I would still be very cautious.
