I got it running. You need dgvoodoo 2.53 or higher to emulate a voodoo graphics card and get the resolutions fitting to yout screen. I am playing at 3440x1440.
First set the .exe to compatibility mode with WinXP Sp3
AND deactivate fullscreen optimization in comatibility mode.
THEN copy dgvoodoo files into the directoty an use the dgvoodoo setup.
If you consider both settings is will fire up when starting the game .exe with every resolution you set.
Deactivate hardware cursor in ingame settings as it causes graphical glitches.
This works for MC1 MC2 MCO and MCWolfman-X and MW2 upwards
If you need further help setting it up PM me. I should be online in european timezone.
Yeah somehow the conversation pivoted from Mechwarrior to Mechcommander, I got confused
Any tips on this would be loved by me.

I haven't tried it out yet because it looks like it still needs a lot of tweaking with things after downloading it, which has put me off trying.
If you manage to get it running...I'd be interested.
Though we are talking about that now... lol
To be fair, gameplay-wise this game has more in common with Mechcommander than Mechwarrior.
It's mech commander 2 that requires all the fixing and side so on to get running. Unless your running the Omnitech modded version of mechcommander 2 for some reason. That ones easier to get running on a windows 10 system.
But last time I tried mechcommander 1 on windows 10 I didn't need a virtual pc to run it, just ran it from the hard drive and threw the cd away so to speak byt transfering all the cd files to where it was installed.
And Mech 3 works fine just that resolution bug with the targeting triangle causes it to instant crash constantly happens.
You can prevent the crash in MW3 by changing your desktop resolution and your game resolution to match (800x600 would be acceptable). This is how I got it to work.
If you can run MC1 on windows 10 then you are very fortunate. I can't even get my computer to install it, let alone run it; I get an error about it not being compatible with 64 bit, and refuses to do anything else.
Awesome. That intro Port Arthur Vid still gives me goosebumps.
I must have played MC1 and MW3 100's of times over.....great times :)
Not sure if this is what you are referring to...? something called darkest hours... https://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=93282.0 (which I posted earlier to Edmon)
It seems you still have to do a lot of messing around with files and tbh the instructions on what you are actually supposed to do seems a bit confusing.
And now i tried to emulate it and it does not work correctly.. Tanks and mechs go flying into the atmosphere and the physics dont work if unless your using a certain computer.... WEIRD!
This is a very annoying bug, but you might be able to resolve it. Change your desktop resolution to match the resolution of the game and it -should- resolve it. I only found this out after I made the video...
