Nice try.
Method-1 for example. Check it out.
X-Com Apocalypse, released in '94 or so. Had a RTS tactical option with pause feature if you wanted to use it. Most of the UFO encounters were real time too, again with pausablity.
And X-Com Apocalypse is regarded as the worse strategy game in the series(there are worse XCom games but they are all bizarre action games or a weird flight sim). The RTS component was optional and most players shut it off.
The modern AWESOME XCom games are TBS and great
Full production for what exactly? Giant robots are not practical for really any sort of work. Definetly not military use.
I mean I love mecha, I love giant robots, its one of my favorite genres. But I realize that the idea of giant piloted war robots is never going to happen because it doesn't make sense.
Giant? Probably not. A large armored exoskeleton that allows a large caliber minigun mount on one arm, flame thrower on the other and a couple shoulder mounted rocket launcher on top with vision tracking targetting system?
Oh yeah baby.
Nothing says military spending like fewer casualties.
it is not that hard to play Mech Commander.. set to a lower difficulty if you're struggling. Usually normal difficulty is still doable.
you can also choose to fire only certain weapons (e.g. from furthest range) so that you achieve the effect of not going close to the enemy / remain in stealth (using certain keyboard keys).
It works for Xcom as soldiers fire 1 bullet at a time then dodge/hide/run to the next cover. So it flows seamlessly when you put all their actions together in real time.
Not so for Mechs fighting each other. Standing at a location blasting weapons like Chess pieces just seem so unreal and out of place. Hence why I created this thread.
It is in the hopes that someday this developer or some other dev would have the guts to emulate what Mech commander has achieved.. making a similar game like it but with updated graphics!
I doubt a several million dollar unsteady walking robot will replace cranes and dump trucks in construction work
You are right about fewer casualities in military, that is why instead of robot suits for people we will just see remote controlled drones(on treds because stability and cheapness) instead
Giant robots are cool, they are not realistic
A lot of people like what the devs are throwing at us. I would be a lot less excited for a new Battletech RTS game.
Clearly you lost all the imagination or you are just too young. In table top games or turn based, it`s not that mechs or units are just standing there, it is like a pause. You got yo picture it in another way.
If you played tbs games like you said then idk how you don`t picture what I am saying. It is the same with table top games if you ever played any.
