(I have the Shadowhawk from pre-ordering)
But in regards to this game, the other two posters have it right.
Really not getting your point. Especially since selling DLC skins has been a thing across dozens of games for decades now. If you're trying to protest it, that ship sank years ago.
And no, again - this isn't "horse armor" or "worse than horse armor". It's "making a pre-order bonus available for people who missed it." Which other games have done in the past as well.
(I remember Fallout New Vegas pissed people off when it had four different pre-order bonuses at four different stores. Year or two later, you could buy a cheap bundle of all of them.)
BUT then I noticed someone on the Paradox forum had one more Battletech badge than I did (from buying the pack)- The HORROR. Could not have that so I bought the pack from steam just to get the badge. Depends on the individual - if you want it buy it - if not do not buy it.
As the others said, the Shadowhawk pack was added because of player demand. It's arguably *better* than horse armor, because it has no in-game effects that make it a "you suffer a disadvantage if you do not buy this".
If people want this DLC, there's absolutely no negatives to allowing them to have it.
EDIT: I see the OP's original "Battletech" Steam User Review was banned for violating Steam's TOS. Somehow, I'm not surprised.
Looking through your posting history, it's pretty clear you've got an agenda. Well, or you just enjoy moaning on forums.
edit: but hey, good news! It's not even a very good skin, and the default one the game comes with is the one I use 99% of the time. So it's prett¥ easy to just skip. Feel free to not spend anything on it. /shrug
There's nothing dubious about it.
As explained, it was a kickstarter reward. Per popular demand, the devs made it available to those who want it.
Feel free to not buy it if you don't see the value in it. It's just a skin pack.
