Anyways just follow the Storyline, you get a Free SLDF Highlander HGN-732b Assault mech and a chance to salvage a Battlemaster, Awesome, or a Zeus.
The only one i never encountered was the Atlas, for that i had to go to the FedSuns after the campaign.
Its a planet that had a plague on it.
Edit: Meant to add that is in the western part of Taurian space.
For some reason game hates me and there are NO ASSASINATIONS, ever. Only one rolled out in some system near Tauros, 4 skull and it still fielded heavy as target. I already have all mediums that can be encountered "wild" and all heavies as well.
Im pissed off, to be honest. Im jumping around, doing missions to keep balance positive and hoping to get some battle or assasination with 4 skulls and up but without luck.
Of course, I can bet that if I would start doing story missions, I would face off only heavies instead, just like now I face tons of mediums.
At what point in the story are you? The further along you go, the higher the chance of most enemies being 'upgraded' to heavies and assaults.
Up to that point I had been faffing around trying to collect all the light and medium mechs, though, so the company was rated at 3 stars.
It seems to me, the more skilled your pilots, the more "upgraded" your opponents.
I run my B team, and the enemies tend to be in damaged mediums ... running my A team, and I"ll see assaults.
Small data size, so take this as unconfirmed anecdotal evidence.
Right after liberating Panzyr.
I DID meet one assault before this mission, during assasination in space not bounded to any fraction but thats it.
I have noticed this as well. Storyline I am on Graverobber, but my pilots are all 4x10. It's hard to kill even heavies now, when just a few game hours ago it was not.
Just do the story missions until that mission and then stock up on assaults.
