Mission Rewards
I've been running into missions with a certain range of rewards now. Rewards up to about 1 mil in cash and up to 5 / 22 salvage. Now I usually leave the levers in the middle, but with rising costs to maintain the argo and my pilots and low worth salvage (probably because I have outgrown the 2.5 - 3 skull missions), I tend to find myself gaining more locusts and less cash.

How do you balance it? When do you switch over to more / less salvage / cash?

The exception to this is if you're about to not make rent. Then take cash and make rent.

Apart from that single case though, taking max salvage is almost always going to be better for your bottom line. I've recently outgrown the 3 skull missions too and generally leave each mission with 2 mechs to sell from medium to heavy.

I take more cash when I need it. Also, I take more cash when the mission rewards seem to enphasize cash over salvage. Also, if the mission description says something about facing tough adversaries, I might lean towards salvage.

You can make enough just picking all salvage even if you only get mediums. I mean at the absolute maximum the argo's upkeep is only ~1.6m a month for 0 morale. That's 2 assaults, 3 heavies, 4 mediums, you shouldnt be salvaging lights if you can help it.

You'll get those easy.

Of course just going all cash is the slightly safer route, but you'll get less out of it.

I actually hadn't thought about salvaging mechs to pay the bills, as it's a little unreliable. I've been on 2 2/3 jagers (for example) for way too long :)

I should try to keep my enemies in one piece.

I generally keep it at standard(middle), unless a single shift will allow me 1 more guaranteed salvage pick.

This ensures cash even if the salvage is light, and generally give me enough parts if it is a good haul.

I always go full salvage. Try to build full mechs and sell them. Not to be under estimated is the ammount of extra random items like Heatsinks and Ammo you get from unpicked salvage. I recently sold about 1k Heatsinks from my stash. Kind of annoying when you have to click them manually for 3 mins.

I always forget to go through the pile of stuff you salvage. Just now, I got a missile TTS and a gyro from that stack :KOh:

salvage +1 in late game and most of the time

copmpleted mechs are worth more than the contract payout

I was fairly quickly drowning in money from a couple of full cash missions to tide me over then full salvage.
