Mech Spotlight: JagerMech
This is another one that I've been using a lot. The JagerMech JM6-S is likely to be the 2nd heavy mech most of us see in numbers, after the quickdraw (was for me, anyway.) At first, I kept it in storage because I didn't understand the value of a lightly armored heavy. But now I'm a fan, I keep it elevated in cover to the rear by my LRM boat, where it punches called-shot holes through the areas where the LRMs peel away the armor. I'm still using the stock fitout, which works fine as long as I can keep the enemy away. (They DO like to target it if they can...)

I've only seen the JM6-S. There is also a JM6-A which looks impressive on paper, with a whopping 4x missile hardpoints, as well as 2x ballistic and 2x energy.

So, let's hear it! Please share your Jager builds, tips, screenshots, or success stories.

And like the other posts, this isn't about what other mechs are better or worse... This is all about clever & effective ways to use your Jager!

All Mech Spotlights:

BlackJack
Thunderbolt

Salvaged the one from the prison mission and replaced the BJ. Used it as a direct fire support mech with AC5s and a LL. Wasn't long before it was replaced with a Tbolt IIRC.

This was my first heavy and I still use it (just after Smithon now). I have equipped it with triple AC5s and nothing else. With a good gunner in the cockpit it puts out a lot of pinpoint damage. Bulwark helps with the weak armor - park it on high ground in cover and snipe from there.

Im liking my JM so far, just built him from spares. Got 2 x AC5s, SRMs, and 2MLs with Rangefinder upgrade on her with above average armor to boot. Acts as my armored scout. Two Orions are the bruisers and a Thunderbolt acts as the LRM boat.

So far no losses nor trouble in a dozen missions or so.

I have to wonder, has anyone seen the JM6-A in the game? And if so, are those quad missile racks (as shown on the game wiki page) as awesome as they sound for a 65 tonner?

That looks... Painful and not squishy.

its used to scout, makeshift tank and alpha strike when needed.
also flanking

usually i engage with jump and go brace to take minimal dmg.
next turn i alpha and jump away(have the pilot skill that can move after shooting) and engage with the rest of my team.

after that i usually try to do the usual flanking stuff if i can or go for another round of makeshift tanking.

sadly AC2 are bad compared to LRM, loved that version in MWO

Actually running one as my fire support right now. 2xLRM 20 and 2xLRM 5 then a pair of small lasers as a back up when it inevitably runs out of ammo on the longer fights and has to go melee things.

Could probably fiddle with the number of heatsinks and ammo blocks to make it more efficient one way or the other, but it's a great load of damage, just it doesn't stand up long if it's being sensor locked and sniped back.

Aye - it was an "upgrade" (aside from the lack of armour) for my Blackjack too in 2 playthroughs now.

Still happy to see the back of it, preferring the Thunderbolt to it every day of the week.

But if you CAN put it in a safe place, then a nice Jaeger will make you very happy indeed.
i have one with 4 missile slots and use it alot with 4x lrm15s...its a beast :D...kinda peeved that the catapult is inferior with it's 2 slots...

i wanted to try a 4x ac/5 jaeger too but i'm missing like 2 weight to put ammo in(like i just read earlier from someone else using with 3x ac/5)...might try that and put more equipment instead

if i could just find a 2nd 4 missile slot jaeger to replace my 3x lrm 15 centurion...

The JM was my first heavy mech: I somehow missed the Quickdraw. I still have yet to get a QD. My JM has seen an unholy amount of service. It snipes, it assaults, it runs, guns, and punches. It's a headshot generator.

Mostly, though, because of its thin armor it's the designated squad tank, since the enemy unerringly seeks out my JM for focus fire, every day every week. When the wind whistles through my swiss-cheesed JM, you can hear "The Yellow Rose Of Texas" (Is Texas still a thing in 3050?).

I've got one similar to Fade's only I traded jump jets for heat sinks. Even then, it runs fairly hot. The pilot I normally use with it has high morale stuck on so he gets to use called shot often.

Definitely not the most efficient way to use the Jagermech but the most fun(for me).

Can spam DFA a total of 30 times before breaking its legs, actually more effective than one might first assume.

I've had a jm6-a as my indirect support fire barge for a while now, with two LRM 15s and one LRM 20. Five tons of ammo will get you twelve salvos, and each salvo (assuming you have "+" weapons) is enough to bring nearly any mech from fully stable to fully unstable even if they're braced.

4 jumpjet's 3 AC/5++'s about 80+100 armor on front and 20 in the back. Heatsinks as needed. Mountain hopping sniper. Used it until I got my 80+ ton mechs a few horus ago.
