Everything else they shared on a github
Again something a couple simple searches for things like "edit dlc mechs" or the like would have found. Versus whinging about it and throwing a tantrum over something that a google search would have revealed.
PS: The fact you tried simply adding the files and they are not available means the DLC is not installed... as they would still be available with the vanilla values.
And you expect help from a modding community who voluntarily removed things they made that HBS is selling? (eg all the mech models)
I don't think they are aware that people can see through that BS and call them out on it. And to be honest most don't realize how tight the mod community is with HBS
Even non-modders would realize that simply adding the .json files are not going to magically make the DLC mechs appear since none of the assets are included for them or the integration into the various lists (store, spawn, etc)
You need to download the 'Assets Bundle Extractor'.
Then run the 'AssetBundleExtractor.exe'.
There is a massive wall of text on the webpage for how to use the tool. Which I feel could be whittled down to more direct directions.
You then 'open' the asset you want to peek in, such as 'heavymetal'. Select 'Yes' if asked to unpack it. Save it with a new name such as 'heavymetalunpacked'.
Click on the 'info' button. And now you have a massive list of files to look through. You can sort the list by clicking on the column names.
Click (or CTRL+Click) filenames you want to extract for modification.
Click on the 'plugins' button and select 'export to txt'.
A folder window opens and you select where you want to put the extracted files.
Now you make changes to the files you extracted. Leave the extractor program open where it is. Once done, go to next step.
Since the files you exported are already highlighted in the tool, (the ones highlighted will be compiled back into the asset bundle) you can go to the next step.
Click on the 'plugins' button and select 'import from txt'. Select the folder where you have the modified files from the above step extract. Click on the 'select folder' button and click 'OK".
Then select >File >Save.
Then select >File >Close.
That closed the extra window that was open.
Back on the main menu, select >File >Save and give the asset bundle a new version name, such as 'heavymetal_v1'.
You then rename the original game asset bundle 'heavymetal' to a backup original name. And copy the 'heavymetal_v1' to the game asset bundle folder and remove the '_v1' so it is named the original 'heavymetal'.
Start up the game and check out your changes to that DLC.
(aside from not going to really be working at all)
@motvent, imho a fun thing
adding dlc prefans to mechs can make them appear as enemys
and they then vanish when salvaged
Thanks!
Like theres the modloader that does load new assets and modified files
