Does a better job.
Sure I will see them all over time. But as I do not know the properties of all rare Mechs, I was a bit puzzled when the Cyclops HQ came into my inventory. It is soo much better than the Z!
Atlas II should not appear at all. In fact it appearing at all in the game is a source of rage and complaints about the game.
WillieSea - The atlas 2 can be found for sale in the pirate black market. I was running 3 of them before the end of the career missions. This is why you want to maintain good relations with the pirate faction. They have alot of great mechs and gear for sale.
As far as anyone saying that it is a," Source of rage and complaints " - do not listen to them.
Any mech from the time of star league could rightly be found in the time period of this game.
Matter of fact - A atlas II was fielded against the clans in 3052. Just because all the atlas II pilots left with Kerensky - does not mean every atlas did.
The successor states atlas ( AS7-D was in use as well in the time period of this game 3025).
The atlas and atlas II are rightly a part of the battletech pc game.
Anyone who says this and proceeds to get everything wrong, do not listen to them :^)
The reason why people complained about the Atlas II being in game is that it is specified ALL left the Inner Sphere and you will not see them outside the Clans. In fact the Atlas II that shows up on Tukayyid in 3052 actually is in the Clan roster not Comstar. So one showing up on some backwater Periphery would be like someone suddenly discovering the Shroud of Turin wrapped round the Holy Grail.
Fielding one is a bit of a red flag when Comstar or the Wolf Dragoons would dogpile you for having one, plus there are other SLDF Mechs that people would have asked for. Generally speaking fielding Star League tech in 3025 is not unheard of but considered a very dangerous game to play as everyone and their mums would suddenly want to come after your shinny toys. Then again Heavy Metal DLC adds defacto Clan Tech to the game so could say it didn't just jump the shark a bit but catapulted it over a whale.
Going back to WillieSea's original question though, cause it's a SLDF Mech you won't see them in gameplay at all. Only on the market Black Market mainly or as loot from a Flashpoint.
