The Story Campaign, no. There is no time limit. You can go off and do whatever and get back to them when you want.

I went an in-game year between two Priority missions once. Yeah, there's no time limit. :D

(flew down around the bottom edge of the map, and then cruised around Taurian space for a while before slowly returning to the middle.)

edit: Take your time and improve your unit in between - as you complete Priority missions, the overall difficulty level of the universe increases.

Good cause some of those missions are rough in the campaign area at first :D

depending on how I am feeling during that play through, I will sometimes run off and grind some cash and xp before taking any story missions. I come back with two marauders, an Atlas D-HT, and a Highlander 732 (or whatever it's number is) for a scout.

It makes the campaign missions a lot easier.

As you might imagine, it takes a bit of time. I enjoy building a lance far more than I enjoy the campaign.

if i started the story part fairly quick, will it be hard to find easy missions

And here I was worried that there was a timer.

On a related note - how often do stores restock? Because if I have ample time to grind, then setting my sights on taking a Warhammer or Rifleman and an Archer to start the campaign missions off isn't a pipe dream.

Just like normal missions, stores are restocked when you enter a system.

Good, good.

Anything to not have to deal with the Centurion and possibly Quickdraw. Shadow Hawk's fine, but those things...no.

Centurion's a great Medium mech. Plenty of weight for weapons.
(My two most common builds are 2xLLas + AC5; or AC20 + SLas + Jets. People also frequently use them as LRM boats)

Yea, i am not a fan of the Quickdraw, but the Centurian is fine. I usually go Ac5 and LRM15 and it leaves room for a couple JJ's.

I'm not really opposed to it, but I find it mediocre at every strategy I tend to use. It works, but there's so many mechs in the general weight range that can do the jobs better for me.

That's my only issue with it. Too much 'all rounder'. That and I usually end up with terrible weapons for it anyway. ;)
