That's why people are farming the clans in RT, now in the latest stable release the clans have been invaded by the IS instead in the online map because players want their stuffs.
Personally, I don't think you could do Clans properly without new AI (to cover the early-war/"honor" behavior; bidding; etc), and other adjustments to the basic structure of the game. Sure, you can add OP tech, but that by itself isn't a "realistic" Clan experience.
That would be a massive equalizer, because Clan Mechs cannot focus fire on individual mechs it would act as a serious counterweight to their general technological superiority.
