Terrible Memory Leak
This game has a MAJOR memory leak. I'm running 16GB memory right now and after just 2 hours of play it will sometimes cause my entire system to crash. PLEASE FIX THIS! I stream and it happens when i'm loading into missions. This doesn't happen on any other unity game either so it's something in your code.

Try increasing your windows page file to 32 gig
Also if you really want anyone who matters to notice these posts you need to place it on the HBS bug thread on Paradox forums

If your entire system crashes, this is an issue with your system. Even a MAJOR memory leak would never cause a working system to crash. It would simply cause the game to crash, and perhaps a "low resources" warning, followed by a game crash.

System crashing, i.e reboot or bluescreen is definitely a problem with the system itself in terms of OS, drivers or hardware.

I'm assuming by "system crash" you mean something like the above. Check your system out.

My windows page file is 64GB. When i say it crashes my entire system i mean that when it throws the out of memory error it causes all applications that are active in memory to crash such as my stream, chrome and discord which is typical of OUT OF MEMORY errors and NOT an issue with my system.

Hardware issue.

are you tracking memory usage with task manager? do that, and find out exactly which processes are using how much memory.

don't guess.

Since other people don't have this issue or can't reproduce it, it's probably NOT what's causing your problem. With 16gb and a page file that is much much lower than yours my system barley hits 10-12gb after several hours of Battletech.

the memory leak in the basic game exists, it has been reduced to a rather minimal leak it is caused by the way Unity loads assets and fails to release some memory.

an average pc with 16gb of ram should be able to play for 3 or 4 hours without shutting the game down and restarting the game which releases the memory.

I would imagine that the it's the streaming that magnifies the problem.

From my understanding. It can help memory issues if you keep reduce the number of saved games to a minimum and keep your spare parts inventory very trim.

interesting thought.

I follow Baradul's streams and notice he has to reload missions every once in a while, but never heard him saying it crashed his system. and he has literally countless streams of Battletech going back to the initial release.

maybe it's the combination with the particular streaming software Fuyu is using.

I would recommend Fuyu contact other streamers of battletech like Baradul or Edmon and see if they ever saw similar things, or if they are using different streaming software.

yep all of that gets loaded in the asset table. so the more in those areas the more gets loaded.

OK. I agree based on this more detailed description. The only thing I could add is that if all of your apps are crashing at the same time, are you sure the actual cause is Battletech and not something more complicated?

It crashed purely because of running out of memory as i have programs i use to monitor. Unity also provides a crash report and it's clearly due to running out of memory. I only have an issue right now because my ram is in for RMA, normally i run 32gb and only ran into this issue when i downgraded to 16gb. Again, no other game has an issue like this so it's exclusive to battletech and is 100% a memory leak. I stream other games that are far more hardware intensive with zero issues even on only 16gb as i am now.

but... nobody else has this problem either.

I monitored the game for 4 straight hours using task manager, just because of your thread. I'm using 3062 advanced, which comes with a ton of mods, I have at least 50 savegames, and a hundred mech chassis in storage, and a full 3 levels of mechbay filled with mechs.

no memory leak. was stable at 3.4 gb memory used.

so it's NOT just the game. there is something else going on.

make sure you check for malware, as malware causes that pattern.

and again, you can listen or not, but there are plenty of other streamers of this game. talk to them.

I'm running a 16 GB ram system too and had low memory warnings and black screen crashes as well. My first thought was a memory leak too until I used resource monitored andsaw the game had an issue with me only allocating a 2gb page file. But the game needs for "enter reasons" at least 6 GB virtual memory for itself. Adjust your pagefile accordingly if you like me
have set a custom size instead having windows mangage you swapfile.
Since then no crash anymore.
