Mech TV and Film

I noticed people talking about the lack of western Mech entertainment outside video games.

Robot Jox is amazing. Go watch it. Now. It's made by a legendary director and even features Jeffrey Combs. It also has 2 spin off films, ''Crash and Burn'' and ''Robot Wars''. They are much less awesome but you can still get a nice Battletech feel from them.

On the TV side, well there's a Battletech cartoon! It has a kick-ass themetune and is delves into the Clan invasion.

Sadly that's all I know of apart from the Kaiju Pacific Rims.
There was once a bizarre rumour that Toby Maguire was a massive Battletech fan and was going to spend all his Spiderman money on an Inner Sphere movie trilogy...but alas.

Avatar has powered armor suits, though it doesn't do much with them.

The third Starship Troopers movie finally brings in the armor, essentially little mechs, though, like the second one, it isn't that good. There are also several animated Starship Trooper ones that I believe use the power armor as well. They're supposed to be decent, but I haven't seen them, so can't say.

I also just tracked down the name of an arena based mech show called Heavy Gear. Yeah that Heavy Gear, totally forgot about the CGI cartoon they made using the franchise.

Transformers is what Pirannah games is trying to make Battletech into with the lack of clan mechs and their boner for cardboard boxes.

Sadly, there really isn't anything beyond the Battletech cartoon that even begins to scratch the Battletech itch for me. I mean, there are movies that feature giant robots but none of them have the flavor and the rather surprisingly well put together world-building that Battletech has as franchise.

It is really interesting. While the Battletech cartoon gets a lot of flak for its general quality, it is just about as close as you could get to a true Battletech story in the early/mid-90's cartoon format. I would even argue that part of the reason it never got more episodes was because it often was shockingly loyal to the source material and thus probably a bit dense for a Saturday morning cartoon on network television.

yeah, the worst part was the toy company content they were forced to work around.. they needed toys that could sell. And to avoid legal issues had to use only certain mechs and such (such as avoiding unseen and the like)
