In these missions, if one mech is not going to make it to the evac zone on time can you just eject them?
Yes eject you dont loose the mech!
Take note of the evac point when they are discussing the mission initially. It wont show it to you until you get all of the caps and you need to be running for it once it does, if you are in trouble.
The one in the Jungle and desert with all 3 caps close together I used 1 assault and 3 heavies. 8 turns to cap, have the assault cap the middle one, have 2 of the heavies go to 1 and shoot at only 1 defender at a time in the back once the assault caps (they will ignore your other mechs, for the most part, unless you attack them, after a cap is occupied), have the last heavy run for the far one. I had a King Crab, 2 Thunderbolts, and a Grasshopper. 1 Thunderbolt configured for long range, the rest brawlers. I killed most of the defenders and then got to the evac point.
For the forest one, I ran 4 mediums, same issue, have 1 guy cap the middle first, 1 run for the far one, 1 target the vehicles one at a time, 1 get the one on the left, after the guy in the middle has pulled the others away. If my guy got to damaged and wouldnt make the rendezvous, I would eject him. That one had a crap load of mechs, so it was get the objective and run. Again only fire on mechs from the guy capping or one at a time in the back if you think you can kill them, or one shot vehicles.
The Jungle with the base in the water and vehicles popping out I used 3 heavies and 1 medium for the far one, since running through water was slower, ended up ejecting him as there were too many demolishers popping out to kill him.
Spot on. The rewards and salvage do not justify the repairs and risk of the mission. Do it once to say you can beat it then move on to more lucrative mission types like lance battles or assassinations. I suppose you can pick one up every now and then to break up the monotony of easy grinding if you want to challenge yourself, but don't do it for the pay.
