Hm, I'm running it on KDE Neon (Ubuntu Derivative), no issues to report after ~30hrs of play.
Got AMD Ryzen, GTX 1080, 32GB. I assume you already tried the "Verify files blabla" thing.

If all else fails, you can try running the Windows version via SteamPlay/Proton, I heard it works sometimes, even some performance gains if the Linux version wasn't tuned properly.

Let me know how it works out.

Yeah, I've already tried verifying the files.

Unfortunately Proton didn't work. I can run it on my Windows 10 rig flawlessly, but just not this one for some reason. Which used have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 on it.

Zorin 15 is based on Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS and I cannot say I have many issues with it. Usually when I do, it is because I am new to using Linux. I started using it for the first time with Zorin 12.4 Lite on an old laptop that hadn't worked in years and now works like new with just that simple install. It was an old Windows XP laptop that was given to me to mess with when the previous owner couldn't get it to even load up anymore. I tried using Ubuntu 19.10, but could not get Steam to even run. Basically did what this game is doing on this machine. So I switched it over to Zorin 15 Ultimate.

I'm wondering if it could be driver related? I'm able to run Stellaris fine, but not this game. I've noticed an issue with Nvidia drivers on Ubuntu though.

I had the same problem. I tried verifying the game files but all was fine. I tried restarting steam and now the game launches.
Maybe the launch is a little slower than what I was expecting? Just after launching the game, the mouse cursor will change to the one used by the game but the display still showed the desktop. The game starts to display the logos only after some seconds.
I'm running KDE Neon on a Ryzen 7 3800x, GTX1070 with driver 440.36.
