Where to find COIL weapons?
Hello all, I'm just wondering what planetary tags I should be looking out for to find some COIL weapons? I've been playing this new Career for just over 40 hours and I haven't found a single one.

Look at the filter locations on Navigations, idk the right filter word, you gotta check yourself on that but, Coils are easily found on planets that seem to specialize in Energy Weapons.

Just put through the filter and all the starred plannets will have a chance to find them.

The coil is found on planets with research or advanced research, use the map fliters and set it to one of those.

Alright. I've gone to two planets with the advanced research tag and have come up empty-handed, but I'll keep looking.

Advanced research on Faction HQ plants won't have COIL weapons.
The HQ planets don't have the basic items list for research, only the advanced one - the basic one is the one with COIL weapons.
(HQ research planets (these will NOT have COIL weapons) are New Vandenburg, Dunianshire, Victoria, Thurrock) - The other 26 research planets can have them.

Ah. I've tried Victoria and Jacson so far.

It's random so if you get tired of shuttling around you can go to a research world and just before your jumpship actually goes to the research system make a manual save. Once you make the jump check the shop and if you don't find a coil reload the save and retry.

Do you have the Heavy Metal DLC? (you need it for COIL weapons)
basic research is 4x picks, 9 out of 15 each pick will be a COIL weapon with the DLC.
