Flashpoint Lostech Exploit
<SPOILER> I just completed the Braying of the Wolves Flashpoint in Career mode, and for the heck of it I suicided Morgan Kell's Lostech-equipped Enforcer and Jenner, as he provided the MechWarriors. Upon the completion of the mission, 4x ER medium lasers were added to my storage, as if my own 'Mechs were destroyed and I owned the equipment inside.

This could potentially be performed on the Battlemaster in the alternate third mission, for 1x Large Pulse Laser. as well as other circumstantial allies, if you have the patience to try it many times over. The jump jets on the Enforcer and Jenner make it easy to destroy both legs by performing repeated DFAs.

I'd imagine that the equipment is not available to the player if it is destroyed during the mission, but I'll return after I've verified it and taken screenshots!

After much experimenting and torso shielding with the Enforcer, I was able to complete the double suicide maneuver and complete the mission twice. The first time, I used the DFA technique described above to kill off my Kell Hound 'Mechs, which didn't yield any interesting results.

In my second trial, I shielded/baited the 'Mechs such that they were removed from combat by CT destruction. It should be noted that my client is set to delete mechs that are removed from combat this way. This method yielded far more interesting results.

As you can see, under the CT/deletion clause the player is awarded the undestroyed equipment of their deleted 'Mech... or in this case the undestroyed equipment from a unique, one-off, lostech-equipped ally. While everyone loves fancy medium lasers, this investigation was more of a proof-of-concept than an advisable tactic. I am very excited to see its applications in upcoming Flashpoints, with more abundantly armed allies. After all, I'm still bitter that the Exchanger in the Enforcer was CT-mounted.

I salute you.

Conclusions:

-You can steal cool stuff from your temporary lancemates during Flashpoint missions
-You must have 'Mech Destruction enabled in the game difficulty settings
-The component that contains the desired equipment must survive
-The CT of the 'Mech that carries the desired equipment must be destroyed
-The desired equipment must not be destroyed by a critical hit

Nah, I've always preferred tech level 1, well endo + DHS with Tech lvl 1. :)

I managed to reload my save and select the alternate mission in Braying of the Wolves, where Morgan Kell lends you a Battlemaster and an Orion instead. I looked both mechs over for items that might be more useful than ER med lasers, and behold:

Rox is sporting 4x DHS and an LPL. Unfortunately for me, one of the DHS is mounted in the CT. Unfortunately for Rox, I decided that 3 was enough. On to the next Flashpoint!

I also freed up the Cyclops battle computer this way. Use your cammander so nobody dies.
Ichthyic Dec 24, 2018 @ 12:32pm
now that is a useful glitch.

will that work on normal missions as well? i'd love to be able to core a cycZ and get a mobile battle computer.

Yup. I've found one of the cyclopes and 3 of the hatchetmen so far and have sacrificed them with temporarily hired MechWarriors so my regulars avoid injury, harvested fixed equipment from all so far.

My Hatchetman now has 4 hatchets lmfao. Almost any other mech would use the 4 hatchets better due to the Hatchetman's -45 melee damage quirk, but this is good enough for now

"My Hatchetman now has 4 hatchets"

as you say, General Grievous. ;)

I've gotta try this before they patch out the ability to do this.

five bucks says the hatchets will not show up as visible on any mech other than a hatchetman though, and extra hatchets on a hatchetman also will not be visible.

...and that hatchet animation is my favorite thing in the entire dlc. really.
