Campaign or Career?
I have not really gotten into Flashpoint because of the horrible load times I have been having, but am looking at starting the game over. I never really finished the campaign, and might have made it halfway through it. Aside from other games grabbing my attention when they released, I had more fun just playing the role of a Space Mercenary so my campaign progress was always minimal.

Should I stick with the campaign and finish it, or just play career? I know career does not have the big payout story missions, but that does not bother me.

After you finish the campaign does the game just turn into career mode?

TIA

Career. You can do both though.

You can continue playing freely either after the Campaign story is over, or after the Career "time limit" has been reached and it gives your final score.

In Campaign mode, Flashpoints only show up in the post-story time, in Career they're scattered throughout (only a few at first, because they're low skull rating).

That said, Career is a bit more difficult than Campaign is, especially at the start. You might want to play through the Campaign first in order to gain more experience. Or not. Your call. :)

If you've got the Argo, then you've got enough experience to figure out the rest. I really hated the story, so my obvious bias is obvious: play out the career instead.

All of this sounds about what I want to play lol. That opening with the rent-a-dropship is just hell. Thanks.

Career is immensely fun early on compared to the campaign. What remains to be seen is if the rewards from the final scoring of career are comparable to the rewards you get in the campaign. Somehow I doubt even getting a Kerensky level score in Career won't be comparable.

Feel free to cover it as a spoiler, but what happens at the end of the campaign in terms of a reward? Do you just mean the rewardss overall, with the high story mission payouts and free mechs?

High payouts and free mechs. Specifically two certain mechs, one of which you only get at the end of the campaign story before it opens up to freeroam and flashpoints.

The other difference between the two is in the campaign you can customize more settings, including making pay and salvage payouts better. I haven't seen that available when setting your career settings at start. Possibily in difficulty settings in Career mode.

Thanks for the info.

Started a new career a couple of days ago and had pretty much the same difficulty sliders as the regular campaign. Can make payouts/salvage generous.

One thing I did notice is that your first flashpoint comes pretty quick, and to say I am not ready for it is an understatement. The career is fun, but the climb from the gutter is a long one. Money not so much an issue as mechs and their availability/salvage.

At the end of the campaign I had a lance of Assault Mechs not including the aforementioned free mechs.

Of course the two mechs are nice, although I do take pride in both them and the mechs I managed to salvage with crisp headshots.

Wish I could have salvaged that other mech in the end though ;)
