If you're not using them, jump jets help a lot with poor positioning. Most convoy maps either have high ground you can control, or switchbacks with obstalces like cliffs you can use to cut them off well before they get to their destination.
Just watch the **** out if you don't get a visual early on. Any vehicles that are 60 or 80 tons could be Carriers, Shreks, or Demolishers that will ruin your day. You probably already know that, but not everyone does.
Big money, no whammy.
First one I tried, and is still scared in my memory, was on a desert map. Ended up hopping around a dust storm for evasion and protection that was along their path, but to get there, I had to go off to the side of the map to avoid starting the convoy.
Everything else tended to have me either take a long route around so I wouldn't "spook" them too early, or I was completely outgunning them with a bunch of King Crabs. Then I just figured it was just easier for me to ignore those missions...
My hardest convoy mission was on a shallow desert valley when I got pincered by reinforcements coming at the exit. Ive done at least 20 convoy missions across my 2 playthroughs.
I don't know where he's getting that from. The orange crosshair always moves more me, regardless of where I am.
Really these missions are easy - Try putting Jump Jets on all your lance and put on your tactical thinking cap.
Good luck.
