Lethal headwound? Really ?
Just at the end of a battle with one battered medium mech to put down. It gets up from a knockdown, bear in mind it has no arms or weapons and then procedes to what? To kick an almost full health battlemaster in the head or was it a headbutt? Needless to say i'm absolutely stunned and confused. I know this happened but should it be possible?

yes. its called RNG. and you are hapyp it exists, because its the reason YOU can have LUCK sometimes and perform this kind of move on enemies, being super excited and happy afterwards.

sometimes ur lucky, sometimes the enemy is lucky. deal with it

I was talking about headshots, my guy had just been killed by a headshot this whole coversation started around the phrase 'just had a victor come and head shot me, again'

So I can justifably think we WERE talking about headshots - I honestly don't know if you're back peddling or why you're so angry at all this about - if you use that rule or the actual rules - that's fine - I don't care

I honestly though you may have believed it's a flat 100% - guts x 5 all over - so I double checked, quick google says it 90/140 - 5xguts which seems about right I'd have gone 100/140 personally

Sounds like a bug, report it in the official forums.

Again, stop reading with YOUR opinion and thoughts. I am not you, i am not angry, i am not backpeddling. I thought that it was very clear by the words I used that i am remaining very neutral with my 'feelings'.

I stated "If you want a bit more challenge, treat your main toon like the others. If they get incapped, take their guts score and RNG if they survive or not just the same as your other pilots would. "

Again, this was a separate comment comment outside the OP topic, not directly discussing anything to do with cockpit kills, but a sidenote of a 'hey btw, i've been playing like this, maybe you'll enjoy it too!' without spelling it out in such a simple, easy to understand way. Guess I know better for hte future that people will read whatever they want to read and not what the writer intended. Confirmation bias at its finest, and i cant blame you for it, but I am warranted in explaining the difference with your rebuttle and my original statement.

I know text can be misread easily, but its up to the reader to ensure they understand the writers point of view before making judgements/responses. Just don't assume every line written to you that is opposing is an attack, its not, its called debate/discussion, its what adults do.

My Black Knight took a large laser straight to the face a few missions ago. Instantly dead mechwarrior and handicapped lance for the rest of the mission. Big NO on my account. Hate it when that happens....

I know right, god forbid battles to the death result in death rofl....

Thats sarcasm btw, just in case anyone misreads my comments again.

Hate to spoil this for you, but in poker you can have 4 Aces and still lose to a Royal flush.

Not in Stud you can't ...

thanks guys, well except the guy with the unneeded comment on whining and crying. the reason i asked was i`m unsure how much realism was supposed to be in this game given it`s giant robots fighting in the future lol. being in melee range of an armless mech wasn`t worrying when all i expected was damage to legs or maybe torso. so lessons learned. no realism and stay out of melee range unless you want to be headbutted. cheers. oh btw he was all 10`s in a fully upgraded ship and he died. hey ho lol.

... it's not no realism. In an outright melee combat, with the armless mech pilot desperate enough to essentially headbutt your mech, it's plausable (but unlikely) to have that happen. Firstly we need to remember that neither mech is standing there to exchange blows. What the games trying to represent is a dynamic, real time situation. Secondly, depending on the mech's in question it's entierly possible for an attempt to (for lack of a better word) tackle an enemy to end up crushing the cockpit.

Take a Hunchback charging a Jenner for example. You look at the cockpit on a Jenner and if the Hunchback is coming from the front there's reasonably good odds that'll happen.

Yes, it sucks when it happens to you. But AC/20 headshots or Headshot DFA attacks happen as well and other then being unlikely, I don't see you being upset about that.:raven:

Battletech mechs are not like Macross (despite the Unseen issue). They are extremely unweildy, even with the best of pilots. That's why in TT there's a huge number if piloting checks to represent this. With no arms and no DFA then the only way in TT you could get a head hit with a melee is having a large enough elevation change to get the attacing mech's feet at the level of the other mech's head, which is a relatively rare case. There is no way for a mech to "headbutt" another mech. They don't bend at the waist or neck or anything. They're ridgid in their center torso.

This game over simplified some things, one of which was attempting to represent piloting checks in the new "stability" system. This is one of the fallouts of that change, where you see foolish things like mechs getting a complete beatdown getup and act like it never happened.

I wish Knockdown was treated closer to shutdown. Or, when you stand back up it consumes a move action and you only take a pip or two of stabilization instead of completely wiping the bar.

Stop complaining about headshots, it happens and is intended.

I'd be more upset the AI can't eject. The situation you painted sounded ideal for a pilot to eject from.

at the spaceport mission i was told the defend the base so no apc will go inside, also there was a bonus mission at the top of mountain which i need to get. I did splendid job to take care all of them, there was an enemy medium mech with 1hp bar remain, no arms half-dead and he just dashed and hit my heavy FULL hp'ed mech with melee. Result was same as you, that sh't was half of my size and somehow he managed to kick? my mech's head and took my ace pilot. I was like wth? roundhouse bruce f'cking lee kick?

Sucks when you're on the recieving end of that. Brilliant when your pilots manage it. Dekker is getting a medal and probably a free steak dinner on me for managing two lethal melee strikes in this playthrough.

First, after he screwed the pooch and blew a leg shot, he netted us a fully intact Thunderbolt pre-Panzyr. Then, still pre-Panzyr, he pulls another miracle off. We were ganing up the enmy's last mech, a Black Knight, and that stubbon turd just would not give up the leg armor or have the decency to die in the cockpit.

I had already kinecapped him once, causing an injury. My Kickstarter pilot, some wonderfully German fellow by the name of Bootcamp, winged his head, causing another. I let him stand up and had Behemoth knock him back on his ass with LRMs for a third injury. I let him stand up again with the intent to knock him over but I was worried. The LRM salvo had hit almost entirely center-mass, blowing through to structure. A misplaced strike would destroy my prize, and we were fresh out of Precision.

So I decided to see if Dekker could kick him and get that last leg. Dekker kicked him alright, and I guess he did it so amazingly that the Knight's head exploded. Lethal Damage, down he went for the last time, and I walked away with a full Black Knight. Sweet.

I am sorry for your misfortune, but sometimes the RNG hates you, and other times it loves you. 'Tis the will of Nuffle.
