Cutscenes have green line on bottom ?
Just bought Battletech and noticed cutscenes have bright green line along the bottom when they play. Tried playing the .mp4s directly in VLC and they're fine so it must be something to do with the player within the Battletech program. I tried changing resolution etc but no effect. Anyone else experiencing this ? Its not a huge problem but a bit irritating......

nope. I have no green lines. Sounds like a graphics card issue. I have Nvidea gtx 1070.

have not heard of this happening once and im here all day. sounds like a gpu issue. try reinstalling your gpu drivers fresh? have you tried switching between modes fullscreen/windowed etc to see if it changes anything? are you running any launch parameters through steam?

No never seen or heard of this before.
Are you using ba Nividea card ? They recently released new drivers to replace the battletech specific ones that were bugged

Thanks for the replies. I have gtx670 and updated to latest drivers but still same green bar for the .mp4s. I also tried various scaling options and resolutions and window options but no change. I think its a problem with the video player that the game uses - sounds like it was causing crashes in earlier builds so glad its not that bad. I also found another thread searching for 'green bar' where someone else had the issue in early May so I'll see if he replies.

While I'm not sure of the nitty-gritty details, it seems the game will grab some weird codec for playing movies from your PC in some situations.

Stuff like installing some less-than-bog-standard codec packs or media players can cause it, as well as installing software for a camera. Depending on what codec gets picked by the game/system, you get green bars or maybe it won't play at all and/or cause crashes.

I believe one of the suggested fixes was to install the K-Lite Codec Pack.
This may or may not help - I don't have it installed, and my cutscenes work fine. Then again, I'm on a pretty fresh Windows 10 install, so I wouldn't have accumulated any cruft codecs from other programs yet.

Uninstall all codecs.

Reinstall windows media player.

This is related to a unity plugin the game uses.

Or, y'know. That.
Probably a cleaner solution than installing a bunch of extra codecs on top in the hope the game will pick the right one now.

your graphics card driver model is so outdated.

majority of us are using nvidia geforce 900 series or nvidia geforce 1000 series nowadays for this game.

the windows OS you using can also be a big factor too.

i highly recommend this

1) lower your in-game video settings.

then restart the game and see whether the problem still exists.

i don't recommend this.

because i found out that this game is using unity 5.

What? No.
Pretty sure the in-game video settings do absolutely nothing regarding cutscenes.

And "Unity 5, so don't clean out your codecs" seems ... odd. Yeah, it has a reputation for being rather buggy in some regards, but wouldn't a cleaner set of codecs *help* instead of worsening the situation?

Now enlighten me of your knowledge about the AVPro Video Plugin

Thanks for all your posts. I decided to try the K-Lite Codec Pack and that has fixed it - no more green line or green bar when playing the ,mp4s in the game. Apparently VLC uses its own private codecs to play the .mp4 which is why the videos worked on that.

Did or do you by chance have any Adobe video editing software installed? I never had this issue until today I installed Adobe Premiere Elements 15.

Pretty old thread suggest post on bug forum

It is entirely possible the video software could be the problem have not heard of this specific one before but I know a nikon camera app caused problems
You should check to see if any newer video drivers are available - might fix
