Argo upgrades
Anyone else feel the upgrades are a little unrewarding like the mech bays you cant field more than 4 so why have 3 bays. Ye you can collect mechs but why you only ever use the same 4 same with mechwarriors (unless they die) but some of the upgrades are just a waste of money.

I jsut feel they missed out on useing the mechbays for other things like maybe sending warriors off on missions (not ones you are doing personaly) i mean its a mec outfit why wouldnt the boss send 4 people on a escort mission wile you doing an assination somewere else.

The extra bays also provide bonus repair points.

I usually only field my four mains, but the faster they get repaired the faster they can earn more money.

In generell the upgrades are very fast done. And then...? A little bit more upgrade oppertunities would be nice.

This is a good idea. The "in game" justification would be that you still only have the one Leopard dropship, but it could certainly be something for an expansion.

If I remember right, many small merc outfits don't have any drop ships at all, and just rent space on them as needed.

Ah... but you see grasshopper, in the begining of the game prior to getting the argo, it clearly shows you that a Leopard transport can carry 6 Mechs. So... The "in game" justification for 4 mechs just doesn't make sense.

Using the "in game justification" you should be still able to field at least 6 Mechs.

there is some talk about that in another thread, canonically the leopard can deploy 4 mechs and 2 fighters, so it is supposed the extra two mechs are packed in sideways into non-deployable slots or something.

But at that point we're just making things up to justify decisions that are a compamise between gameplay and original lore -- the orignal lore its self being designed around tabletop balance.

So, the logic gets a little contorted.

Thats true it can field 6 but hey you could always assume they were droped off and picked up later etc or even the employer paid for trasnsport just an idear (maybe they coudl add more drop ships mid/late game) be nice to use the bays for something other than 2 mill for 7? rep points

Also they gave us 4 mechs as they prob stuggle to balance the game around 6 as others have said the ai plays it as zerg and throw away witch the player cant do (but thats the whole ai should have some sence of servival instinct kinda thing)

very much, yes.

they do have surival instincts they will turn to side and do stuff to try and stay in the fight longer the only issue with that is then they usually aren't firing back.

its a fine line they have to walk to get the AI to react right, and no matter what its not going to think like a human it will always have some kinda disability.

why you think AI cheats in sports games? to make up for the fact it just can't play as good as a human can without cheating. It's no different here they make them want to survive and then you will have a bunch of AI that doesn't want to engage, better for them to push engagements then to run away and delay battles.

Sometimes I feel like the main development got put into the battle map and the mechs. Sometimes the story mode feels very unfinished. Like its waiting for its DLC plug in.

Morale was another one. The high end hab upgrades gives up tp 2 morale. By the time you can build them most player will already hit the 50 morale max. Making those upgrades kind of usless.

I can't remember, but I thought 'ransoming' was a thing in the old lore.

Mechwarriors might choose to surrender or eject, forcing a ransom result rather than salvaging their mech.

Just some brainstoriming, I don't exepct any of this to happen :D
Vorshin May 8, 2018 @ 9:36am
aye i would have thought having the new ship would allow at least 2 extra mechs to be fielded allowing 3 missions able to be done (or more depending on pilot and mech injury/damage).

Especially when some missions you have to fight at least 10+ enemy mechs/vehicles/mixture and those mechs are usually way better than what you have.

I was also going to make a comment on how to Eject a pilot but i discovered how to do that just before comming to the forums with an issue on some quests.

The Leopard - tabletop - holds a lance of mechs and two aerospace fighters.

Think of it this way:

Leopard = Lance
Union = Company (3 lances)
Overlord = Regiment (3 companies)

So when the loading fluff says Wolf's Dragoons showed up with "5 regiments of pristine Battlemechs", they mean the WD has a 180 mint-condition Battlemechs, with an equal tonnage of foreshadowing.

This also insinuates that the Argo was originally designed as a Company-level support vehicle, and that your mercs are woefully under-utilizing it.

I get that but some missions the ai throws its units at you and when its 12+ vs 4 doenst matter to the ai if they die but to you it does i just think maybe them not just playing it leroy jenkins style would be better for all.

Id not more mechs the space were the fighters go could be used to field tanks i mean some missions id love to have some LRM carriers or even something to sensor lock people as i feel its a waste of a trun on my MW once im in combat
