Spoiler. Where to buy mechs?
So I have the Argo, and have been messing around a few of the stars near Weldy, but so far like 30 T Mechs are the biggest I've seen for sale.. I have 4.75 million credits, is there a planet nearby Weldy that sells some good Mechs? A couple of the stars I've seen have none at all.

It is a random chance to get either a mech, special equipment or special parts in the shop for most planets.
Look for industrial, rich or large population tags.
Even some people say they got SL/Lostech mechs from planets tagged with the with the lostech tag, i think from what i have seen the file is disabled to bu yLT anywhere.

You want rich planets. There are a couple reasonably close that usually have larger mech. Quarantined planet in Tuarian space on the border is good as is New Vandenberge.

one planet has griffin parts i think one have heavy mech part prob on weaky but i much cheaper to do some 2 to 4 skull mission and salvage parts if u take at sav priority on parts,
mech slavage goes like this
3 parts pilot knockout with at least 1 leg and center torso functional
2 parts with 2 legs knockout for kill with center torso functional
1 part with center torso destoyed
mechs are rng in shops.
u can increase ur chance to buy higher mechs on systems with rich, manufacture, research.
but u can only buy parts from a mech. so u need 3 parts to build one real mech. 4.75 is a bit low ;)

Spend your cash on Argo upgrades, not mechs. Do sorties to get salvage. Use salvage to get mechs.
Mechs cost a fortune in the shop. It's almost never worth buying them. I've been running at least 1 salvage every mission and have a storage full of mechs with doubles.

You're best off salvaging them. I have 4 assault mechs from salvage. I've seem 2 full mechs in shops - locust being about 2mil+ from memory.

Thanks everyone, great advice, also sorry for not searching... But honestly I've been checking the forums so much at work that I feel like I've read most the posts, so I'm surprised something got past me.

head to the most difficult system you can, they sell heavier mechs. It's where i bought my first banshee (bad mech, only 12 tons spare space for weapons on a 95 ton mech!). cost 1.4mil x3

But honestly, just salvage them. you'll want c-bills almost exclusively for argo ship upgrades, the later ones costing over 2mil each.

Lol I'd almost forgotten about Banshee. That was for sure the worst mech for its size in the 3rd edition Battletech box I started with. Glad to know it's in this game though. Some of the worst are my favorites (like Urbanmech).. Wish they had the Hatcheman in this although generally physical attacks feel OP. When I used to play TT the accuracy of those attacks was not nearly so high on fast moving mechs, but not sure we had the rules right.

I would 100% pay 6m for a Banshee. I hear it makes an *amazing* punchbot.
