You comparing a MW4 atlas to MWO atlas. Theres not really much difference. I think the MW4 atlas was slightly taller.

still better to me than the new one lol

There really isn't much that gives how tall the Atlas should be, the images linked don't give any real comparison shots to the other mechs so are virtually useless. The Atlas from MWO is tall, and feels like it should be. It doesn't look it in the pictures because it is a bit wider, and the head is sunken down instead of being higher up. Armor and the Skull head were what made the atlas so imposing, not really the height. It very well could be that say a black knight ends up taller, but weighing less due to being skinnier.

The taller one looks cartoony to me, that old version of the Atlas is why I never liked it and could never take it seriously. It looks like a robot out of some morning kids' show from Japan (think Power Rangers, but even goofier).

The new one looks like it was designed to be a war machine.

My atlas on MWO still toples over most mechs, the one that it does not loom over is the anni. That mech is massive. Should try the atlas on MWO, pretty big.

The "new" Atlas from MWO seems to have more mass and lower center-of-gravity, which means it's harder to knock back/knock over. Also, the MWO Atlas seems to be much more accurate to the original illustration from the Table-top technical readout:

Yeah, there's absolutely zero scale reference. The MWO design just has a beefier torso and shoulders.

It could be 5m tall or half a kilometer tall for all these images convey.

I like the squatlas. The tall versions always looked silly rather than intimidating to me. This model looks a lot tougher.

It's not like HBS had a choice. They licensed their mechs from MechWarrior: Online. So they have to use those designs.
HurricaneSG May 4, 2018 @ 9:58am
They "wanted" to use those designs to save money and time on making 3D Models on thier own. And to have a presistent look and feel of the Battletech Universe troughout different games.

Given Jordan Weismann, who has retained the rights to battletech and was the creator of battletech, Shadowrun, etc., owns and operates HBS I'm pretty sure the MW:O changes to the Atlas were with his blessing and I highly doubt they licensed anything from mechwarrior given they wouldn't need to as he is the original rights holder and still retains them (thus the reason they could also do Shadowrun Returns).
