How do I change where I stand for a Melee attack?

Many times, when I move up to make a melee attack on an enemy mech, the UI shows me two or three different places I could stand and make a melee attack (at least I assume this is what it is showing me).

There will be the big icon (circle with tooth pointer) showing the current spot that I will move to, if I click again and make it happen. But there are also usually two other smaller identical icons around the target mech, one or two pips to either side, as if I **could** move to this spot and melee...but I don't know how to do that. I always end up either accepting the big icon spot, or doing something else (because accepting that spot means exposing my back to an enemy.

Are there alternative options when making a melee attack, or is it always just the one spot that the UI offers me?

Edit: To make a melee attack, I have to click on the target mech (which will show a big gold box around it) to order a 'move up and Melee attack' order. If I select Jump before clicking on a tagret mech inside the gold box, it orders a DBA instead.

press "V" and after this the other position

Once you've clicked the enemy mech, there will be small white circles around it that you can select before clicking attack

Yes, you click on the mech to target it for melee and THEN other positions to melee appear. Click those.

Aha! the V key makes the difference! Thanks guys, I appreciate it. Time to get my Hatchetman on.

The most i ever seen is 3 melee attack circles, and some tiles you can't preform a melee attack from because of hight difference i believe. once you select one of them i noticed if they don't move, and you go to melee again the other 2 opinion disappear. it force you to melee from where you are and can't try flanking the back armor for a melee hit.
