Upgrade dropship to new one by playing campaign, & more contracts will open

They are for sale in the store, but not full mechs. You have to buy three of the same one, to make an actual full and operating mech as they are salvage (just like after a mission), not full working mechs.

New mechs are obnoxiously expensive. A pre-argo mission gives you a centurion for free. The best way to get mechs is through salvage. Whether piecemeal through multiple missions or headshotting a mech and getting all 3 pieces in one mission.

You have to salvage pieces of mechs after the battle is over. It takes 3 of em to make a mech. Or look at the stores on each planet and sometimes they sell 1 piece of a mech. If you have not been salvaging pieces after battles, you should start over as you will never win with 2 mechs.

Nowhere? You get them as loot?

You can buy them on certain planets. I'm ata place now where i can buy a full griffen for around 5 million. It's utter garbage. Get them from salvage. Waaaaay overpriced.

Thanks for the answers guys

As noted above, you get mech parts as loot, and need three parts to make a mech. It'll come with the default set of weapons for that model once you do.

If you just blow a mech to bits by smashing the center torso, only one piece will be available in the loot list. If you eliminate the mech by breaking both legs, two pieces will be available. If you eliminate it by killing the pilot -- all three pieces will be in the list. Of course, if you're only getting two pieces of priority salvage based on what you negotiated, you might not get the third as a random pick.

Rich planet with "research" and "star league" usually have nice stuffs to buy in the shop. But a full mech is rare. For now just do some 1 to 2 skulls to get more slavages and build up your lance. 3 and ups skulls will yield lot of heavies. :D

First four mechs are like "get whatever" then sell the lightest and advance through the story line?Allways keep the ones that fit your playstyle. mine is like brute force so i don´t bother keeping jump mechs. But in the two skull missions you should rely on medium jump mechs heavily. From my exp i just need one jump mech in four skull missions.

Well that depends on how many Story Missions you do, if you've only done the Argo and prison missions you won't face Heavies (99% of the time anyway)

I don´t know whether it´s a static result. I got plety of full mechs after various battles. sometimes you have leftovers from more than one mech of the same type due to random tonnage makeups so don´t bother to *** the *** at them ***?

Still: don´t ever buy mechs- it´s flushed down the toilet $$.

Tell that to the army of Dragoons and Thunderbolts. I barely do any story missions after I got the Argo.

Well there's 4 ways to kill a mech really.

1: Take out the CT
2: Take out both legs
3: Take out the head
4: Cause more injuries then the mechwarrior can handle by knocking them down repeatedly, blowing up RT/LT and by causing Ammo Explosions. Sometimes you can take a mech out in one salvo to the RT or LT, 1 injury from the Side Torso being destroyed, 1-2 Injuries from ammo explosions and 1 from being knocked down to stability.
