I was having this issue too. It was occuring after a "hot swappable" install of my current nvidia drivers. I was unable to play this game after being able to play for like 6 hours, keeps crashing and creating debug stuff at startup attempts of the game.
There was some kind of conflict, in my case, where the new drivers were loaded but this an other games were having issues utilizing them at times prior to restart. This was resolved by a restart of the computer for me. After going thru my app logs in windows and seeing the drviers errors associated at the same timestamps of crashes ... it made sense to me.
Give this a shot, I dont see them patching anything , as they wont be able to recreate it, without the perfect storm of temp files loaded into memory incorrectly.
