this, completely on the money
The Locust is meant to be built around a MLAS or LLAS with MGs; those support pods are meant to be ballistic pods.
Locust also is meant to be a fast scout; run in, lock target (or if this was TT tag target), and watch the LRMs rain in
If you're looking for a brawling light, consider a Panther with a PPC or a Commando with SRMs - if you want a shooter, a killer can, and if you want a striker Jenner with 4x MLAS and a SRM4
I just coudn't understand the idea of those hardpoints
Regarding support weapons, I suspect the reason they're like that at all is because HBS wanted certain weapons to fire automatically during melee attacks, and this might have been the best way for them to do it with the way the game is set up. It also does seem like a change that was made later in development.
Not the point of the thread. A locust with 1 or 2 ballistic hard points that cannot reasonably handle even 1.
Some light mechs can handle it though, found an Urbie with AC10 fitted. thats a monster of a light mech in this game.
Also if you discover an XL engine mod (not saying it exists) you could start playing around with ballistics on light mechs. Personally im looking for leg mods that reduce DFA self damage, on a light mech these can be OP.
