Refit takes too long
It's just not fun sitting around for 60 days watching my money disappear because it takes 2 months to refit my mechs with different gear. In fact, the whole debt system is lame and sucks the fun out of this. Maybe it's not a big deal when I actually have a bunch of pilots and mechs to throw at different missions, but everything just takes too long to do in this game.

And funny enough, you can't refund this game after knowing how unbalanced this aspect is because it takes 2 hours to even get to that point where you find out you're disappointed with how this game works all around.

That's part of the challenge of the game -- make do with what you have already and make small changes to them that don't take so long. You have room even at the start of the game for 6 mechs. You can use them to go on missions as well.

I don't care about the challenge. I want to play a Mech game where I run missions and have a story, not feel like I'm in debt the moment the game starts and I can't make any money. It's just not fun sitting around for anything to get done. And like I said before this, I can't refund it because it took that long to even get to this point where I find out I dislike the way it works.

Hyperbole much? Anything to get done? I switch out one or two weapons all the time. It takes a few in-game days to do that.

You're the one choosing to swap out every weapon and then sit around rather than going on missions with your other mechs.

There's nothing unbalanced about the way weapons swaps work. They encourage you to diversify your mech bay instead of switching everything out every mission.

You could try to rush to the Argo and expand the mech bay.
With 12 slots you should have enough mechs available to do missions while you're repairing and refitting.

Either that or use cheat engine and just ignore the whole financial balancing act.

You start with six bays and a fifth mech and pilot for this reason, and the very early missions can be easy enough to do with an understrength lance.

Financing your team is easy when you understand that you do not need all that salvage aside of specific types of missions (clean oldtimers or lance of mercenaries, stuff like that). Just goo full money negotation, complete optional objectives if you can and like this 1 or 2 missions is enough to make some decent income. You don't need to have "generious" budget, normal is normal.

OP still has a point.
Even if you don't have to refit mechs, you normally want to. I mean that's kind of the whole point of the system, being able to try different combinations in different situations.
The way the mechanic currently works I only replace weapons with upgraded versions and rarely try new designs unless the mech took a real beating and I have to replace broken parts.

If only there was a search function for these forums. It could really cut down in all the duplicate threads.

You suppose to minimize damage however you can. The only exception is story mission, which almost impossible to beat without extensive repairs.

It doesn't take too long before that becomes a non-issue. Early on, your best bet is to have a variety of mechs in those initial 6 bays so you can mix it up depending on what the mission is. The Blackjack, Shadow Hawk, and Vindicator should be your standard combat drop early on, with up to 3 options for the 4th mech, allowing some flexibility in what you take. Also, don't be affraid to store mechs early on, especially if you already have a similar mech in a bay already. It may take a while to pull them from storage and make them combat ready, but you shouldn't really need to do that till you get that 2nd set of mech bays and want to fill them up.

this isnt a forum, its very design makes it the most repost-heavy, discussion-lacking board imaginable. steam never intended this to be anything but a "rant-vent"

and yes, i would like to be able to test new designs faster. refitting shouldnt take as long as repairing a half-destroyed mech. but its ok imo

I've put my game on hold while i pray for some way (cheat mod whatever) for instant refit.

They talk about the ability to change mech loadouts in the tutorial (Take lasers to tundra and ballistic to badlands etc) but realistically you'd waste ton of time. And since they made time=money with maintenance it's kinda bleh.

That's the reality of the Battletech universe, at least till omni mechs are available. Mechs are designed to carry a specific weapons and equipment load and changing that would require extensive work.

I don't care that there is work and time involved, it's just way too much.
