Best weapons general thoughts?
I'm running 50-60 ton mechs after two days and 18 hours into the game, got some general thoughts on weaponry:
1) beam weapons are not good, too much heat build up and too many heat sinks needed
2) ballistic/missile weapons are the way to go through. AC and LRM missiles are the best. SRM isn't really needed. Load up lots of AC weapons (AC 2, AC5 for range AND power) with maybe a AC 20 executioner mech plus distribute plenty of LRM weapons which also work great at close range. Don't worry about too much ammo except for campaign missions.

Or am an Idiot?

lasers are excellent for lightly armored enemies, and have a decent baseline accruacy;
PPC's are love, and LRM arty mechs are great, but glass cannon

Ton for ton, SRM tends to out preform LRM. However at obviousily a shorter range, so each gave a solid role. In fact one of my most lethal medium mechs loads three Srm6.

Manuvers to almost point blank in the rear armor through jump jets, and then drops 18 missles into the rear armor. If I also burn a percision strike it can frequentle execute mechs thrpugh this tactic.

Also, any decent combination of weapons can be incredinly lethal when Called Shot is used on the enemy core with a ~40% CtH.
I execute alot of enemies that way

I'm loving the autocannon and missle route, at least until you get further in game as better stuff might show up. PPCs are good, lasers are ok, but I'd rather have an autocannon vs a few m lasers.

Strip off armor with missiles and autocannons, move in close and spray with machine guns to stack up internal damage and critical hits.

Flamethrowers are also a very niche thing; The Firestarter mechs can force a shutdown if youre not careful, and have a mech with a decent amount of heat already

I use everything, depending on teh situation everything can be the best

This dude is right, SRMs are your shotgun.

Personally, I think massive stability damage is good--ACs/LRMs/SRMs. Bullying assualt mechs is easier than trying to lazorz through their armor.

PPCs are too heavy/hot, which is a shame, I love them.

Not played many hours yet, but I like the PPC the most in terms of effectiveness. On the right mechs, it surpasses anything else I got fielded which includes LRM, med and large lasers. Not so impressed with AC2 and AC5 however.

Melee is also nice, especially against vehicles.

@Pip Boy
Early on i gave a Panther 2 PPCs. Needless to say, it was godly, but would overheat in one turn if i didnt have my heat sinks on

I have a Cat variant with 2 PCCs and decent heat, problem is LRMs tend to out perform since missing with a PPC is teh sux.

Eu também sofro do mesmo. Sei que PPC é pesada demais e gera muito calor. Mesmo quando erra é satisfatório o efeito. eheheheh
Mas o colega dos mísseis tem razão, SRM6 + jatos de salto são mortais.

I hate PPC heat like crazy..and subpar damage for their weight, I prefer LL over them
Then my preferred are AC5 and 20 ,AC2 does weakish damage
Add some SRMs to AC and LL mechs, else i make full LRM paper boats 😊

I favor lasers. I like the auto cannons but they are all absurdly heavy. My mechs are mixed load, so I can hit whoever at wherever when I need to

I feel that I like missiles and autocannons the best but I settle for M lasers if I don't have enough tonnage.
