Panther preferred AI Mech?
In every non story mission, I encounter between 2 and 6 Panthers.

They are far more of them, than any other mech. Anyone else noticed?

Panthers do seem to be really common. I also encounter a lot of Jenners, and I'm starting to run into more Firestarters now.

I have to agree if there are light mechs you are going to see some ppc Panthers.

Nah, mainly depends on difficulty of the mission and what planet type you are fighting on. 2 skulls and not a hot planet you will see em a lot.

Funny enough they've been very rare for me. It's all Spiders and Commandos with some Locusts thrown in for good measure.
It's been a lot of Locusts for me.

Hmm i wonder how much RNG is in misson mech choice. Im sure story are set but side missons are RNG built i wonder is it picking from prebuilt lances or if each mech is picked at random.

I have not even thought about that... will keep an eye on it of I see any correlation.

If they were following the canon of the battletech universe then you would almost NEVER see a Panther or Dragon this far out in the Periphery.
Add to that the very PPC the Panther uses is a special model made in the Raselhague area, the Lords of Light. This specifically was a compact model of the PPC to fit a small mech's arm.

Compare that to the Donal PPC found on the Warhammer's arms, they're as long as a Stinger/Wasp is tall.

With Jordon Weisman on this project you would think the DEVS would follow the canon for the game. But I guess not.

But take the Spider for instance, that model mech has one factory on Tematagi in Marik Space.

FASA had actually produced a book that mentioned ALL of this information called Objective Raids. They listed mech production and such.

Every house produced Locusts, Stingers and Wasps, in great numbers.

But the mech factories on Hesperus was the only place making the Atlas, at the rate of about 3/month. That factory also produced their Zeus, Battlemaster and Banshee class Assault mechs.

On another note has anyone seen a Banshee yet? Is it the standard with 1x PPC, 1x AC-5/2t Ammo,1x SmLaser? Or is it the Banshee S which doesn't even come off the experimental design testing until 3026 and then ONLY serves as the Achon's Guard?

(NOTE:> I do have a life, but played the game since 1988. Some of the trivia never goes away, LOL)

The thing is HBS got their models from MWO. This was a straight-up money saving thing, and a smart move IMO.

The problem is MWO doesn't have the Wasp or the Stinger.

The comic book guy in me does agree with you regarding the Panther, Jenner, Spider et al. but if you drew a ven diagram between "Mechs Common on the Periphery" and "MWO Assets from 3025" you'd end up with a pretty small pool to draw from and instead we'd see people complaining that the only mechs they see are Locusts.

Oh, and regarding the random unit compositions on missions. It's only one datapoint but while I was trying to recreate a bug I ended up reloading a save while I was en route to a mission. The first time I played it I was up against a Panther and an Enforcer. Second time, a Panther and two Commandos.

So it is purely random.
Good to know.

Just tested it.
Loaded a started mission from the launch mission screen.
It had a different map, mechs, amount of medium/light/tanks.

Everything seems to be random.
