How to walk backwards?
I can't seem to figure out how to get the mechs just to move backward so I can get a better shot. Instead of having a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ angle on a target. I can't seem to find the control options anywhere.

The game does it automatically depend on your movement choice. Try picking a few dots behind you and ending your facing the same way you strayed. Your mech will walk backwards

Keep your firing arc forward and move to the spaces behind you.

I'm not sure why the devs decided to remove this movement option. It was at the far left of your option bar in Beta.

They'll walk backwards even if they're going to change facing at the end if it's a short enough distance and close enough to 'straight' backwards. To a point, at least. If the facing change is close enough to 180 degrees they may well turn around at the start. I just had a game where one mech walked backwards a few steps before turning ~90 degrees at the end though.

Seems like a bit of a guessing game then if the distance isn't short enough, it would have been better to have left it in if there was a backward button.

How does ejection and shutdown work? All automatic? Can you flush the mech with coolant later how advanced is this?

Probably because there's no point. You either have enough movement points to end up facing the direction you want in the place you want, or you don't.

How is it a guessing game? You know when you choose to move what direction you'll be facing. Your facing during movement itself doesn't matter because the enemy can't fire on you during your movement.

I wish my mechs would not constantly walk bsckwards, breaking immersion by acting silly

Ya you have to move it then face it to see if it was short enough, if not redo it, the very definition of a guessing game. There doesn't appear to be an easy way to cancel a movement other than pressing ESC I wish they would have just used RIGHT click.

I agree it'd be more intuitive and convenient if right-click canceled movement but pressing escape isn't exactly hard.

Shutdown is automatic upon maxing the heat bar. Deals some moderate to heavy structural damage, leaves the mech easier to hit and obviously forces it to skip a turn.

Ejection is manual and has an obnoxiously small red button in the lower left of the screen above your mech's silhouette. Took me ages to find it and several dead Mechwarriors.

How is that possible? You're required to eject as part of the tutorial.

Happened automatically on my go through.

You can set a "face the enemy" keypress in the options.
It makes it a little easier to pull off.
