What is DFA, please?
Just starting and learning. I'm playing the third mission, and now my four mechs have DFA in their weapon list. What is DFA, please?

Death From Above. Basically landing on your opponent to smoosh em.

Death From Above. Using your jump jets to land on the enemy. You will do damage to your Mech's legs so use it sparingly.

Death From Above, jump jet ontop of your opponent for swag and profit.

Death from above, using jumpjets to land on your enemy. It deals significant damage to the jumper's mech's legs and destabilizes both mechs and the listed damage is applied to the enemy mech. It is mostly a last resort maneuver, but there are specific mechs famous for it. The "Highlander Burial" comes to mind. Highlanders in the lore could literally put a light mech IN the ground by DFAing them.

It's a fun technique, but often leaves your mech in the repair bin after the match.

Pretty sure you take the listed damage to your legs, since it put my 100% health light mech into structure damage. It's all applied to the upper part of their mech though, so could crush the cockpit.

Or completely screw up your mech and render it useless for God knows how long. I think we should stress that while a fun idea, DFA is definitely a last resort.

DFA is great for getting a melee hit to the back of an oponent. Also having jump jetted, you will have lots of evasion. I recomend its use, but sparingly as it does do ligth internal damage to legs, but nothing to worry about.

Hahaha! Ok, now I remember it from the boardgame. It's been way, way too many years since I played Battletech. But, it's all coming back to me. Thanks all!
By the way you can sometimes buy mods in stores that will make your mechs less likely to damage their legs during DFA.

Man, I feel like an idiot. Apparently, I’ve been using DFA while trying to figure out how to use DFA. I thought it was something where you jump and fire weapons downward at your enemy’s head. Geez.

lmfao I'd beg to differ... I've had great success with DFAs taking out a enemy Mech.

I prefer Death From Afar.

I tried DFA twice, I missed once, and the other I hit, but the next round I was so unstable from jumping they knocked me over and stomped the yard.

It's a last ditch hail marry of a move until you can get mods that support it.

you have just as much chance to miss with a melee attack... sorry, it's not a last ditch effort for Mechs... unless that Mech is jump capable and all weapons have been crit, then yeah... last ditch cause melee and DFA is all you got left to play poker with lol
