BATTLETECH
This a remake of the 1989 Battletech?
e.g. the rpg-esk game?

It's based on the tabletop game, yes. Does it follow the tabletop game rules 1:1? No.

You mean Crescent Hawk's Inception?
No. Both are set in the same universe in a roughly similar time frame, but other than that they are unrelated.
CHI is so good, i've completed it i don't know how many times over the years. I just love it! I still have the disks for it for my Amigas :)
Mileage may vary, I preferred the sequel.
Ah, Inception, Revenge and Mechwarrior 1 (not to mention the TT) - so many fond memories :)
The best computer version of the game I played on my old AMIGA was by a guy at an Air Force base in Florida and was called MechForce. Registering it got you the update with the 3050 gear (3025 stuff only in the base game). Played hours with friends running our merc company, salvaging kit from wrecks. Looking for this game to be its modern successor.

+1 for MechForce. Perhaps the greatest game in turn-based battletech to date. Titans of Steel wasn't bad either.
IMHO Battletech MUX was the best translation of the tabletop game to an online playable format.
