Question about alliance with pirates?

So wondering, aside from initial buy into black market and a bit better pricing, what value is there in a really high pirate standing. I got it up high during campaign and got a cheap black market, but now what? I am looking at whether it is worth an alliance with federated suns or another to get faction store and special missions, but doing so will neutral out pirate standings.

I like the idea of ally with pirates, but is there value in that since already got black market?

Overall, Only alliance reason I found of benefit is to get alliance flashpoint of the great houses?

I do not own Urban Warfare, yet, so I cannot say if they added in a pirate flashpoint with that, but as of Flashpoint, only the Great Houses had an alliance FP.

Other than better black market prices and a roleplaying aspect, no added benefit of pirates. Unless you count everyone else hating you as a bonus.

so we have two situations,

1.) against the pirates, everyones enemy is pirates so you can get good rep with everyone else killing pirates instead of playing people off each other. decent mission selections most places.
Black market costs 2.5 million to join and purchases are 10x more expensive like 4 million for a heat exchanger making it less viable for a source of items.


2.) pro Pirates. cheap black market which during the campaign is the easiest source of rare mech parts and weapons. since you can't visit any faction HQ to ally with them and gain access to their stores. because reasons.

so I would recommend going pro pirates during the campaign simply because they are the only people I'm seeing stuff worth buying things from. after the campaign and the area opens up. well I'd quite and start career mode but in career mode I probably would instead ally with a faction or two and use their stores.

As far as I can tell, the only reason to ally with pirates is if you want the achievement. I had built up 100 Rep with pirates which gave me a whopping 10% off the black market, Just today I allied with them, and nothing changed. The discount was the same, no new markets appeared, nada. The only thing that did change was every other faction was now enemy to me.

You should at least stay friendly with pirates so you don't get charged out the wazoo on the black market, but beyond that is unnecessary.

only the achievement is gained from the alliance with pirates. so unless your big into rp reasons or really like getting achievements few have it is not worth it.

You can lose your black market access with the pirates during the game, due to an event. So overall these are the reasons to think about keeping the Pirates happy;
1. Lower price to purchase access
2. Lower price at the market
3. Access to their missions
4. Achievement (once only of course)

For myself in an Iron mode game, I have decided to do all Pirate missions for free in order to balance all the missions that are set against them. So far it's working out ok. Of course I won't ally with them because of the consequences.
