Battletech Extended 3025 - Modding back in Jump Jets?
Lore be damned :lunar2019madpig:, I want the flexibility of being able to put JJs on any mech with the extended mod, is there an easy way to go about this?

I use Battletech mod manager. It allows various mods in your library to be enabled and disabled. The jump jet settings are controlled by a separate mod in 3025. Use the mod manager and look for the jk jump jet mod, it will have a description next to it on the list. Disable it and all the vanilla mechs HBS made will have jump jet slots. The new mod mechs will still be set to the standards of the mod author.

Does XL Engines or Endosteel/Ferro Fibrous work with the mod?

Installed an XL Engine, but didnt gain any additional tonnage.

The *lore* says that you can put jump jets on any 'Mech, at least as easily as you can swap out weapons or whatever.

So I'm glad that shutting off this non-lore-friendly limit is apparently that easy.

As JediBear said, mechanically in the tabletop games you can put jump jets on whatever you want. It's actually annoying that BEX removed that ability, it's one of the reasons why I moved to Battletech Advanced. Did not realize it was so easy to put back in lol. That said I still prefer Advance's extra stuff.

UPDATE FOR AUGUST 2023:
The jump jet mod has changed. As of now, it's called BT_Extended_JJs

Using ModTek didn't work for me, I had to use the in-game Mod interface to disable it, then restart the game.

A set of mods this complicated will probably always be a moving target, so it is possible it will change again. The mod makers aren't trying to hide anything, though, so you'll probably be able to find it again.

ALSO: Others mentioned this, but to make clear: the mod only modifies chassis that don't have limititations set by default. New chassis often have jumpjet limitations built in. If you don't mind editing specific text files, you can fix this too.

For instance, I have the Archer 2S mod which still doesn't allow jumpjets. I went to this folder: mods\BT_extneded\chassis\chassisdef_archer_ARC-2S.json

and found this line:
"MaxJumpjets": 0,

Change it to:
"MaxJumpjets": 4,

Chassis definition files can be all over, though. A LOT of those mods will have their own chassis files so they won't all be in the same folder.

You can, but you realistically don't, not if you are running the proper customization rules that is meant to go with it. Not sure why this needed a necro to say that although guess Elvis did provide some useful up to date info.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
