There are some near-sapient species detailed in the settings though not considered to be aliens.
Yeah, no one liked the space chickens
There were tasty according to the book
Don't think that 'mech was actually in that strange novel called Far Country.
I know this thread is old but it has already been dug up, so whatever.
Well, considering the name, the necromancy checks out.
And I am really unsure how aliens would improve the game. Considering the universe, they would simply be the defacto good guys in a universe where good guys don't really fit in.
They wouldn't. BT tried aliens in far country and the community sharply rejected them. While the novel remains canon, it's basically a we won't talk about that again situation which is fairly easy given the location it takes place in.
At it's core BT is the answer to the question "can't we all just get along?" (The answer btw is: no, no we can't). Aliens would give humanity another threat to unify against and I feel like that would be a mistake given the core nature of the universe
I can't remember the name of it, but I remember a sci-fi novel where International War and most other large scale Human conflicts immediately ceased the moment Aliens showed up in our skies and declared they were taking over. While the aliens had FTL travel, and advanced weapons, they VASTLY underestimated Humans' capacity for violence. We finally had something to go to war with that wasn't us, and therefore, all our ethical problems related to violence was discarded in the name of Humanity's survival.
We captured one of their ships in under two days, and within a week we had repelled the invasion entirely. :D
