Sci-fi game Alternatives to this game?
Hi, I have been watching some Youtube videos of this game. It is currently in Beta so it does not look really great so I was wondering are there are other games in development that is meant to compete with this game and has some Real time elements involved in the combat system.

This game might be worth getting on a discount so I would be waiting for that to happen, in the mean time could you recommend some other games involving Sci-fi genre and has strategy and some RPG elements involved, thanks.

I don’t know of any commercial game that is current that this game is competing against.

A free game called MegaMek is the closest thing to the table top version of Battletech you can find.

As to the quality of the YouTube clips, they are mostly only 720p quality and not the HD1080p that the game runs in.

Mechcommander Gold and Mechcommander 2 both are very similar and both are now freeware, if you could handle older graphics you could try Cresent hawks inception and revenge?

While more First person Mechwarrior 3 and 4 might sustain you.

Also slightly different but Front mission games play similar.. you'd need an emulator though. I'd start with Front mission 2.

I completed Crescent Hawks Inception and Mechwarrior 3 thank you very much! I was wondering about new games in development that offer Sci-fi mecha combat that has real time and time pausing elements for the combat system. It is primarily for Single player play.
the short answer is no, there is nothing that i am aware of that would directly or indirectly compete with BT, is more real time based but offers more or less the same features...

the only one that you can somewhat compare might be Battlestar Galactica Deadlock, but that is turn based tactics again with a bit of fleet management and the like, but in a smaller scope than BT will be ... The replay function is a great thing though and of course shows your fights in real time...afterwards :)

i bought BSGD to pass the time until BT comes out and i don´t regret it. Very passionate Devs, too who already patched alot of things the players were concerned about.

@HBS: please join forces with them and make a Battlespace/Battletech/Mechwars hybrid, show MOO how to do it xD

DOS graphics? Get out.

Some people have a really warped sense of what reality actually is. They haven't played any DOS games for decades so they seem to believe that they were a lot better than they really were.

And if Battletech looks like a DOS game, graphics wise, I want to see that DOS game.

DOS games were great. Its depressing that there are some games from my childhood that are still better than anything put out today, sorry but true. The MS-DOS pc gaming era was a golden age that we'll sadly never see again. Thankfully we've got DOS Box and GOG while they still cared about retro games at least.
