Full Realtime Mode. Is it possible?
Hello dear Developers,

Is it possible to implement full realtime mode (with tactical pause) for the BattleTech? Or you COMPLETELY have no intentions to do so?

Thanks.

The entire game is built and balanced with turn-based in mind. A RTS mode shoehorned in at this point is about as likely to happen as pigs flying.

If you want another RTS there are dozens already out there.

We already had two RTS versions of Battletech called Mechcommander and Mechcommander 2.

You can grab copies of them as freeware on the net and have fun.

As to changing the whole underlying structure of this game, well there is no chance of that happening. HBS is developing a turn based game like the table top Battletech but with certain changes to make the game more playable on the computer.

Finished them a long time ago. Hoping for MechCommander 3.

This is Battletech. Turn-based.

Yeah, never ever cared about turn based.
Will wait for Mech Commander 3 then. As long as it takes.

Microsoft released most of the source code for MechCommander 2 over a decade ago. This has allowed dozens of mods to be released for the game to increase it's playability, but it also means there will not likely be a sequel. Since the first was released in '98, and the second in '01, that also means it's unlikely there will ever be a third.

Maybe if Battletech and Mechwarrior 5 sell well it would entice them to re-use or sell the rights to MechCommander, but that means you'd have to buy games that you don't want to play to support the wider genre and make it more attractive as a profitable venture for them.

Well, I have high hopes for Mechwarrior 5. If it will be just as good as Mechwarrior 4 - I will buy it for sure. While Piranha failed with MWO (they forsook lore details for sake of balance - which completely ruined game for me), they have quite good ground to develop MW5 and keep all mechs and equipment according to the lore. I'm sure I will enjoy it pretty much.

here´s something to consider, obviously just from my point of view...

i absolutely don´t like real time strategy... but i played both MechCommander games because BattleTech ... and i absolutely loved them for what they were, although they weren´t "my genre" at all... maybe, if you get out of your comfort zone this once, you might even enjoy it for the scenario and everything around the combat-style...

just a thought, do what you like of course :)

the age old conflict between RTS and TBS rears its ugly head in every TBS game forum.

Didn't even know about a MW5 and I even have MWO installed but haven't played in months. So I went to look and found

...Piranha Games president Russ Bullock took the stage to reveal...

This.

To the OP. This is a turn based game. Go elsewhere if that doesn't sound interesting to you.

well some people buy a game that is nothing like the game they want, they then give it a bad review because it isnt what they like, they then start on forums trying to get the game changed to be what they wanted. how pathetic are those people is the real question.
