Upgrading Weapons and Vehicles In Conquest Mode

I think that with research or gold (though according to roadmap gold is going to be for upgrading armies?), you should be able to upgrade weapons and vehicles in conquest mode. Essentially, when hovering over a weapon/vehicle you have unlocked in conquest, under the description it will have a few options to upgrade, and the weapon's stats, which would show you what an upgrade would change.

For example, let's say you are upgrading the Patriot. You could upgrade damage, accuracy, or magazine size (just an example, don't criticize) for research. On a tank you could upgrade handling, armor, or damage.

This system could also include tradeoffs. Upgrading a tank's armor would lower its speed. Increasing a Recon LLR's magazine side could decrease reload speed.

I also think that this system could replace the suppressed version of the SIND-7 and the grenade launcher version of the Patriot. Basically, if you have the stealth weapons research, you could upgrade the SIND-7 to be suppressed. If you have the thumper unlocked, you could research the Patriot GL. This would also open a window for having all sorts of variants of weapons, such as a scoped/suppressed RK-44 or a sawed-off version of whatever the shotgun's called. Plus, it drives me crazy when I unlock the Patriot GL and some troops keep using the Patriot without a GL anyways.

This would add an extra element to player's research strategy (Do I unlock the Recon LRR, or upgrade my assault rifle to have a scope?) and just make the game more fun, which is a good thing imho.

I doubt the dev will do this. He already wrote something about how he doesn’t plan on adding attachments, as he wants each weapon to have a distinctive feel. Also it would be kinda pointless because only some of the AI would be using the weapon you upgraded, so the it would have a very small effect.
