Easy red 2; an alternative
Just picked it up and im shocked to admit its a better Ravenfield. Its an amazing game, probably the best WW2 shooter around. There are 72 base maps/mission in the base game and mod support.

Iv 1000 hours in RF but recently stopped as meaningful content has stopped coming.(i dont count story missions as anything interesting,it isnt why we play games like this)

Easy red 2 just does everything Ravenfield does but alot better and has the exact same unity editor built in. Its polished, pretty,FULL of content,it doesnt "rely" on mods to be good, it has MP as well as bots, over 100 WW2 vehicles, italy, germany,U.S ,britain,France, japan etc etc

AI isnt brainless either and have roles, act really well, suppress, take cover in buildings, open windows and alot more..fuly destructable envoirnments too.

Il come back to RF someday, when content starts flowing in again perhaps. But Easy red 2 is an absolute GEM. The dev even released "Makin" DLC COMPLETELY FREE along with Normandy/Battle of the bulge. Game is cheap too i implore you all to check it out.

while it is cheap and has lot's of vehicles and a map editor
it has way too much dlc and the base game only has 70+ vehicles according to the trailer and from your description of "over 100 WW2 vehicles" my mind immediately tells me that the dlc is way overpriced in that even if the dlc's add over 20 gun's each it would only be barely worth the price as you would only get 1 - 4 vehicles per dlc and in that sense is kind of terrible price wise
so i will only wish list the game until there is a sale, ive played few ww2 shooters and fewer were successful

Believe me the DLC is worth it.Your getting so much more than a few vehicles. extremely cheap and its added content doesnt stop with purchasing it. All the DLC's(or theeatres of war..Europe,soviet,pacific etc) get continued added content for free going forward. Its updated DAILY almost with not just polish and fixes but additions. The DLC isnt needed, without it theres way more content than ravenield. And when i say over 100 vehicles i mean it.. just looking in the editor its closer to 200 factoring in AT guns, artillery guns,AA,Static weapons,LCV's, planes etc etc.

Also 70 plus vehicles for the base game if it is that is a hell of alot, not to mention(last night i had a proper go at tanking) the vehicle combat is pretty in depth. You can be part of a tank crew(like in Arma) or control every aspect of it.

I whole heartidly recommend it. It may be the most enjoyable, immersive and best supported(one developer named Marco) game iv ever seen.

EDIT: The DLCs that add normandy, stallingrad, and battle of the bulge, including each new weapons , factions, uniforms, voices, props, vehicles and weapons as well as the missions/maps themselves are just $2 each... hardly overpriced its a steal.

I think the main differences between the two are the variety. Easy Red 2 is mainly just World War Two and much of the Ravenfield audience prefers more modern settings (though a large group do like the WWII setting as well). Easy Red 2's Workshop is still in its infancy, so we'll have to see what mods end up developing; though as a modder myself I picked up modding Ravenfield as the artstyle is much simpler and easier to work with. I'm not great with texture work, which is something that would make me not want to create modded content for ER2. I do enjoy that game however, it's got some great mechanics. I especially love the medic system where you have to choose the right tool for the job.

yeah agreed. Ravenfield is my 2nd most played game ever next to Arma3. Iv spent hundreds of hours recreating Battlefield maps and have more than gotten my moneys worth. At some point the dev stopped updating the base game and focused on story mission stuff which honestly isnt a games like this strong point. I want an attack defend mode like bad company2 rush mode, Easy red2 has just that and i love it. For me it just does everything better than ravenfield besides modding and ofcourse modern combat options.

If that dev ever released a modern conversion id be so happy to remake Arica harbor and BC2 maps for that game. Here in RF,iv made Rush mode on Arica harbor, caspian borber,Naval strike, and port valdez, and while im pretty happy with them, and alot of ppl seem to like them,it just cant properly recapture the actual rush mode as i remember.

I would hope steel raven releases an attack defend mode someday for RF. This would be way the hell more popular than linear story missions

Easy Red 2 is a great game trust me. It's actually a better shooter. But comparing a quote on quote "realistic" World War 2 to a cartoony FPS that's mostly a sandbox for mods seems kinda eh.

putting realism aside there are alot of similarities including the editor which is massive.
