VIPmods explanation

Greetings all, I thought I'd give an explanation to those of you whom have seen the F VIPmods banner on several mods on the workshop. VIPmods is a piracy site who offer pirated versions of mods. The site is heavily monetised through advertising. So in case you can't work out what the issue with this is us modders do not receive and payment of any kind for our work and never have. Hence these "gentlemen" over at VIPmods are for all intents and purposes stealing our hard work and profiting from it. No modder as far as I'm aware has ever given permission to have their content put on the site and many of us have attempted to complain to the site admins but have been rebuffed or ignored by them. This not only harms the games developer by encouraging piracy but also the modding community who are increasingly considering measures such as private mods to combat this or giving up modding altogether since it seems fairly pointless to mod if it's going to be instantly stolen. If this becomes widespread this will lead to a less choice of mods for you the players so I urge you to buy the game and don't use VIPmods.

I personally think that people pirating your mods is a big compliment also if someone pirating your mod makes you quit modding then good. Dont be so soft. You should do this because you love it not because you could make money from it.

It's not about the modders getting money, it's about people stealing people's mods and they get money from ads from linking it. There are other ways to get mods from Steam that don't rely on you to download a potentially malicious file from a site. Most modders here do mod because they love it, but would prefer to see their work not be stolen and then profited on

I literally have made 60+ mods and never once made a penny. So how I'm here "for the money" is confusing. How would you like it if someone stole what you made and sold it without your permission

modders work for love. however this site is making money with others' work and that is the issue. what is good about pirates making modders quit? he is not being soft. you are being ignorant of their work and efforts to this community.

I just went onto the VIPmods site and it looks like a pirated ravenfield steam workshop. I feel like this is unacceptable by any means and El papa, know that I support yall and I would suggest boycotting or petitioning against the site. Also, I got you a new, less vulgar banner that still brings the message across, how bout "#WatchVIPmodsDIE"?

So... if, for example, Ravenfield was like an absolutely amazing game and every website out there creates cracks for Ravenfield instantly Steel should take this as a compliment and if he can't, just quit making Ravenfield? Also, does this mean the same for basically every content? What about non profit projects? Can people just rip them off and make money?

this is not a compliment, this is a crime, they are making money off of our work!
