Main Causes of Lag
What can cause the most lag in the game? I mostly play on the smaller maps because they work much smoother for me, but anywhere bigger than something like island to archipelago, it's impossible to play of how laggy it is. I also think maybe Skins also cause alot of lag, as the default ones don't rly cause much but something like the american skin pack does cost some frames. Things like vehicles or Weapons I don't see much of a lag problem with them.

If you know what the main cause of lag and the best way to stop it please tell me down below in the comments, it would really help me and enhance my gameplay and fun.

Turn down field of view. Make sure the foliiage is on low. Things like that just turn them way down

The default maps should work relatively well performance wise. Main causes of lag are mods, too many bots or having a computer with underwhelming performance.

If you want to have slightly better performance, I suggest going to Task Manager by pressing CTRL+ALT+DELETE. A screen shoukd pop up and click on open Task Manager. Go to Ravenfield.exe and right-click. Click on Set Priority and click on high (or your preference) Click okay and your game should run faster, at the cost of other things running slower. I do this because my PC is an absolute potato.

Watch out for some of the Workshop stuff. Some of it is not optimized properly and if many of the bots use the same weapons, it can severely slow down the game. I had to turn off a modded mortar and a nuke due to lag! Crazy! Start troubleshooting by turning off mods if you have them. Good luck!

Actually, no. You're better off if you have less weapons activated in any match. If many bots use the sane weapons, it ussually means the game has to process less weapons in the game. Same thing with vehicles. They might be fun but if it's modded, it can sometimes be laggy if you have too many mods running at the same time.

CTRL + SHIFT + ESC directly opens Task Manager so you don't have to CTRL+ALT+DELETE

Good points about the Fan Maps, many are likely not optimized and are going to lag.

I'd recommend the following:

-- Tune down the VEGETATION DENSITY AND VEGETATION VIEW RANGE. I use Reduced for one, and Medium for the other.

Reason:

Most one man programmers, and even AAA games, take large hits on displaying Vegetation, for very little gain in immersion.

-- Turn off BLOOM and COLOR CORRECTION

Reason:

If BLOOM doesn't slow your graphics down, fine then. I haven't even tried it on. But it probably will trigger on explosions and at night for effects. That might be for each projectile, that could be a lot of CPU and GPU work, as it required a lot of lighting work every time something shoots, hits, and explodes. See, every bullet might be programmed to produce a tracer, every gun barrel some bloom when fired, every explosion the same. If a lot of combat is going on, that's going to be a large potential hit.

COLOR CORRECTION is a relatively new term I've seen in only a few games. Not only do I have no real idea what it does, but in something like Dying Light, it was a drag on FPS and it did not make it look better. So be prepared to turn it off.

-----

You could also turn down the overall VIEWING RANGE for everything. But if you have even an Nvidia Geforce GTX 750 Ti, which can pretty much play anything on medium settings anyway, there is no point in reducing the Viewing Range.

On the other hand, if you have an INTEL HD GPU or another integrated on chip GPU, it might be worth trying.

Point is, Ravenfield should not be using that much of your resources.

Now, if you are trying to display on a monitor above 1920 x1080, especially at more than 60 FPS, well that's probably something like overkill. It won't look any better than it is at lower resolutions, as the models are not that complicated, and the textures are fairly simple.

The main cause of lag is either 1. The game is poorly written or 2. Unity is a poor game engine.

Note: can be both!

Unreal Tournament 2004 ran on just about anything and looked better! Planetside 2 runs better than this game and handles heaps more physics. I'm done with this game, I just wish I could get my money back.

most of the time its if their are to many mutators operating at the same time
