Thx for the answers guy´s!
No, BF1942's bots are just plain terrible and only became decent in Battlefield 2 and 2142.
Apart from the linear pathfinding of Ravenfield's bots, they can at least shoot enemies and drive vehicles with you instead of acting like Snoop Dogg playing BF1 at E3.
Answering OP's question: it feels more like modern Battlefield, so it's slightly more arcadey, and you can make it WWII with mods if you wish.
What do you think makes Ravenfield more arcadey than 1942? It's been many, many years since I played that, so my memories of it are fuzzy.
Compared to BF1942, Ravenfield is generally more fast-paced (similar to BF games post-Bad Company), has cheesier physics for both ragdolls and vehicles and the recoil of the guns isn't as heavy.
I'd consider BF games pre-Bad Company to be semi-realistic and more in-depth. Only thing that's more realistic in Ravenfield compared to old BF is probably the bullet drop feature.
Thanks. I knew there was a reason I enjoyed 1942 so much. I think Ravenfield scratches the same itch for me. The wide open maps, wonky vehicles, and definitely the bullet drop, which feels pretty good on the vanilla weapons, imo. There are also a couple of weapon packs that add older weapons which fit well with the rest of the game, especially if you're going for that WW2 vibe.
I'd recommend it to the OP as a 1942 stand-in, as long as we keep in mind that this is an early access indie title. So sort of like a streamlined, single player version of what (probably) inspired it.
