These are several possible causes of Ravenfield to be unable to communicate to your Steam client:
- Steam isn't running.
- The game wasn't launched through Steam, and the steam_appid.txt file isn't in the working directory (IE next to the .exe, .app, .x86 or .x86_64 files)
- Ravenfield is not running under the same OS user context as the Steam client, such as a different user or administration access level.
- Steam is logged onto an account without Ravenfield, the game must show up in the Steam library list. (You obviously have the game, so this shouldn't be an issue unless you're logged in to another account)
Sometimes, faulty installs can cause these problems too:
- An anti-virus program is blocking one of the game's files. Whitelist Ravenfield in your anti-virus and run "Verify integrity of game files" to make sure are all files are ok.
- If all else fails, a few users have solved this issue by reinstalling Steam. Keep in mind that this will also require redownloading and reinstalling all steam games unless you back them up - this should be the last thing you try!
Hope this helps!
