It's 2 AM. A guy in a tank top leans over the counter and says "a beer, snacks, and a pizza for me." Behind him, the highway. Behind that, nothing. You're a student, you're alone, and your shift just started.

Arcadia Cafe is a short domestic horror set in a roadside café in early-2000s Ukraine. PS1-era low-poly visuals under a thick VHS filter — scanlines, chromatic aberration, that fuzzy analog signal that makes everything feel slightly off. The Cyrillic beer ads on the wood-paneled walls, the ancient cash register, the grandma sitting next to a trash can in the panelka courtyard, the green-painted stairwell — this is a very specific time and place, and the game reconstructs it with uncomfortable accuracy.

The horror isn't jumpscares. It's the customer who orders something normal but stays a little too long. The walk home through dim streets where the only light is a single sodium lamp. The kitchen with the kettle whistling on a checkered tablecloth at an hour when nothing should be whistling.

Five bucks. One sitting. Headphones on, lights off.

If you grew up around panelkas, you'll feel things you weren't expecting. If you didn't, you're about to visit somewhere Western horror almost never goes.

Arcadia Cafe is a short but really atmospheric horror game with strong early-2000s Ukraine vibes. The night shift, weird locals, and seaside roadside bar all feel alive in the best unsettling way.

Whistler is the best character, no contest. Waiting for a DLC about him.

Great vibes, great mood, definitely worth checking out.
